In line with our mission to increase the number of Pasifika health professionals, we are launching a project to engage with Pasifika youth enrolled in secondary schools to promote health as a career and academic pathway. We now have a

12-month fixed term opportunity to recruit a Recruitment Officer to support and engage with youth and their fanau in schools and community environments. This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) fixed-term position.

The opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

You will work in line with Pasifika practices and frameworks to support students and their whānau to address the barriers that prevent them from considering a career in health, this includes supporting them reach academic success through secondary school. You will support and encourage students to explore and further their own cultural journey.

About you | He kōrero mōu

As you will be supporting our budding Pacific minds, you will have an understanding of general Pacific traditions, values and have the natural ability to connect with Tagata Pasifika throughout our rich and diverse region.

You will be able to connect with youth and work alongside them to achieve their goals and remove barriers. Therefore, we are seeking an exceptionally organised and proactive individual.

A background or understanding of the health field would be advantageous but is not as essential as the passion for promoting opportunities and providing meaningful support to help young people reach their potential in the medical field.

  • Stakeholder Services: Doing what you say you will, delivering to your stakeholders and getting a result for others will be what drives you.
  • Planning and Organising: You will work in a holistic manner with multiple potential students, and be able to juggle needs, prioritise and deliver results.
  • Valuing Equity: You will be able to articulate how equity issues can inhibit academic success and entrance into tertiary education. You will be able to showcase how you have navigated and negotiated modern pressures alongside traditional worldviews.
