Substitute Bus Matron Hours: 7:00am – 9:00am AND 2:00pm-4:00pmPay Scale: As per the CSEA Contract Description: North Bellmore is seeking a substitute Bus Matron. Bus matrons ride on a school bus for the purpose of maintaining order, and for supervising the loading and unloading of buses at the various stopping points. This is routine work which includes responsibility for the safety of school children on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school. Expectations:
Maintains order on bus and makes certain that children are seated while bus is in motion
Supervises loading and unloading of bus
Assists pupils and driver as needed
Familiarity with the bus routes in the district
Communicates with parents/guardians as needed
Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
Ability to get along with children and to maintain discipline
Comply with and execute all safety and security protocols/procedures for the building and district
Other duties, as assigned
Requirements:
Fingerprints from Nassau Police department (to obtain a school bus aide id card)
Fingerprints from NYSED
3-hour bus safety course
Physical performance test
Matron must complete 10 hr training within 1 year after hire date
Must attend a 2-hour refresher course twice a year
Candidates must satisfy the physical and mental requirements for school bus monitor set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State commissioner of Education
