Our direct client is seeking an IT Project Manager to work in their Brewster, NY location. This is a 6+ month contract opportunity with possible hire. The candidate must have recent experience managing/leading a large enterprise initiatives in the Utilities Industry such as :
- Server upgrade & retirement portfolio
- Upgrade of SOA interface engine
- Upgrade of storm / outage management applications
- Implementation of new digital circuit wallboard & mapping application
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and customer service skills to facilitate collaborative project deliveries and promote the value of project management across the organization
- Manages vendor relationships throughout the duration of related projects and collaborates with vendor implementation resources to ensure alignment of expectations and deliverables
- Collaborates with stakeholders to produce project artifacts that align within the appropriate stage of project execution (i.e. scope, schedule, budget, test plan, communication plan, education plan, activation plan, & change control)
- Facilitates critical, time-sensitive discussions related to risks, issues, dependencies, and decision points with stakeholders and collaborates with the team to develop corresponding action plans
- Actively contributes to the evolution of the IT PMO (Project Management Office) and VMO (Vendor Management Office) by recommending new efficiency-based processes, educating stakeholders on the value of project management, providing feedback during team discussions, and owning development and implementation of approved changes
- Mentors Junior Project Managers and other project leaders within the organization to support the delivery of projects managed both within and outside of the IT PMO
- Understands and follows PMBOK and Agile project management frameworks to manage risks and facilitate the delivery of projects within scope, schedule, and cost constraints
- Consistently provides effective status reporting that contains the appropriate level of actionable detail for Executive, Sponsor-level, and project team recipients
- Creates and maintains accurate project budgets and actively manages costs throughout project lifecycle
- Executes proper change control processes to provide transparency and effectively manage scope, schedule, and cost
- Proficiently leverages Project Management tools such as MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, PPM and budgeting software to ensure high-quality project deliveries
- Adheres to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to change management, incident reporting, time accounting, expense reporting, purchase requisition processes, and compliance requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience formally leading projects within a matrixed or co-sourced environment
- 5+ years of recent experience leading enterprise project in the Utilities industry managing projects such as:
- Server upgrade & retirement portfolio
- Upgrade of SOA interface engine
- Upgrade of storm / outage management applications
- Implementation of new digital circuit wallboard & mapping application
- Experience in Energy & Utilities or services industry is a must
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma, SLDC, or Agile certification
- Understanding of project delivery and acceptance processes within a fast-paced business environment
- Experience providing service to internal stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
- Demonstrated capability for problem solving, decision making, sound judgment, assertiveness
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as strong presentation skills and the ability to conduct presentations to large groups
- Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills
- Experienced user of MS Project and MS Office toolset (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
- Valid driver's license
- Master's degree (in aforementioned fields)
- Experience with PPM tools (e.g. Planview, ServiceNow, etc.)
