A NYC agency located in Brooklyn, NY is looking for a Network Specialist for a 12 month contract.

To be considered for this position, the client has advised that upon placement, consultants will be required to abide by NYC Executive Order 78 and 79, which states that consultants must wear a mask under certain circumstances, show proof of full vaccination or submit on a weekly basis proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR diagnostic test. Mandatory Skills/ Experience Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered.

  • Minimum five years of experience in the field of networking
  • Must have hands-on experience with BGP, MPLS, OSPF routing protocols in a large environment
  • Relevant experience is routing and switching, load balancing, datacenter technologies is required

Desirable Skills/ Experience

  • Hands on experience in Cisco's ACI technology
  • Additional experience in the field of load balancing
  • Good project management skills

Responsibilities

  • Network Consultant to assist OTI management and operation our IP networks.
  • Consult will be assisting OTI with architecture design planning, implementing changes, and managing troubles.
  • Additionally, consultant will assist OTI with day to day tasks around operations of networking include MOP development and reviews, task assignments, ticket resolutions etc.
  • Network - Routing and Switching: design, deploy, and troubleshooting
  • Participate in design calls from a Network perspective on assigned projects.
  • Propose a networking solution to meet the business requirements and at the same time meet OTI's Best practices guidelines
  • Discuss with the OTI Architect team for any uniqueness in the solution proposed
  • Submit BOM Build for installing new network devices
  • Follow OTI process for new devices commissioning
  • Configure ports, configure new switches, and apply the base templates configurations, integrate the switch into production network
  • Create change tickets, pursue approvals, and respond to any questions that may be raised by any of the OTI teams
  • Create and review method-of-procedure for the change to be executed during the pre-approved change window
  • Open TAC cases as needed and identify root causes
  • Schedule, coordinate and execute resiliency failover testing as directed by the manager of the group
  • As part of any decommissioning activity: remove legacy configurations, remove unused IP subnets, ports from documentation, and update network diagrams, following OTI guidelines
  • Complete any additional tasks assigned by the manager of the group, in the area of and load-balancing
