URGENT NEED - Hiring Senior Data Analyst with Mainframe experience - Brooklyn, NY

Duration: 4 years long term contract with possibility of conversion into permanent employee

Location: Brooklyn, NY (Onsite work is a MUST post pandemic therefore local candidates will be preferred)

Work hours: Mon - Fri (40 hours/ week)

The Data Analyst shall provide Client's Data Management team with technical expertise for the completion of Data Profiling/ Cleansing and Conversion/ Migration efforts part of ongoing Legacy Replacement initiative. The following deliverables shall apply: Participate in identification, inventory, and classification of client's critical data Work with data SME's to document data quality rules and definitions. Extract business rules from the existing Legacy code and create Source-to-Target mappings. Transform business and data quality rules into ETL and/or SQL technical specifications. Provide technical and analytical support to client's data integrity and quality initiatives. Collaborate with SME's and technical leads in identifying and addressing data quality gaps. Work with IT partners to remediate identified gaps using both manual and automated solutions. Support processes that proactively detect, correct, and prevent invalid data values. Defect handling and problem resolution.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Must have excellent analytical, problem solving, and information gathering skills along with fundamental technique troubleshooting abilities. Minimum of five (5) years of source-to-target data mapping experience in a mixed Mainframe and Relational Database environments. Experience creating data dictionary documentation with business terms, valid values, and definitions. Experience converting/migrating VSAM data to relational/dimensional SQL distributed databases. Proficiency in mainframe applications encompassing COBOL and CICS. Strong SQL knowledge working with complex queries and stored procedures. Understanding of data structures and their relationship to ETL applications. Ability to work in multiple environments: IBM Mainframe, Windows Server, and SQL Server. Strong analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to receive and analyze requirements and propose a suitable solution that adheres to the team's methodology.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Experience with Data Quality/Profiling tools. Experience extracting business rules from the existing legacy code. Experience with Data Warehouses / Data Marts.
