Data Center Operations Manager

Salary: up to $125,000 Commensurate with ExperienceExcellent Benefits

Brooklyn, NY The Manager, Data Center Operations is responsible for the daily operation and build process in the DoITT Datacenters; managing all the LAN nodes in the Metrotech campus environment; and managing the team that maintains and supports this environment in a 365x24x7 environment to ensure the network is always accessible.

Job Description:
  • Manage the performance of high-level repair and testing of network cable infrastructure with Operations Teams, Telco vendors and city contract vendors. Interface with internal Operation groups and city agencies to resolve urgent and high priority incidents and request;
  • Create and manage data center related projects; update projects using Clarity and other tools available. Working closely with the Tech Arch teams for new BOM's and decomm tasks;
  • Open, review and update incidents, request, task and change requests related to Data Center Operations; manage all PDM’s in data centers and all LAN closets; Install/decommission network appliances; manage all physical assets entering and leaving data center; insure the performance of data center environmental; perform periodic data center consolidation and wiring management maintenance;
  • Manage remote and on-site management of power distribution units and KVM appliances in data centers and LAN closets utilizing DSView III/IV applications. Schedule periodic firmware upgrades of PDM and KVM devices; merge and configure Operations Team network work appliance assets to KVM devices;
  • Perform daily management activities e.g. escalation and solution review. These activities include tracking performance through the analysis of Enterprise Management System reports on incidents, change requests and RFS's. Analysis of these reports enabled the manager to plan resources, identify trends and further investigate operational activities. Establish the appropriate technical and business training plans for all staff so they have the required knowledge and understanding of technologies and business services that they support;
  • Establish a core team vision and strategy based on DOITT’s organizations goals and priorities;
  • Meet regularly with staff and communicate with them of any changes, additions, etc.; perform reviews on a yearly basis and work together to address their concerns, performance, etc.
  • Handle special projects as assigned.

Preferred skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or equivalent experience plus five to server years of experience in telecom management;
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in telecom management and support;
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications industry;
  • Knowledge of telecom operations, technology and equipment;
  • Knowledge of change management, configuration management, performance analysis, physical planning, inventory control and technical standards;
  • Skilled in oral and written communications. Skill in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs, and telephone systems;
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to make sound decisions.

Qualification Requirements:

1.BA/BS including 24 credits in the field of voice and/or data telecommunications or related field and 4 years of related work experience where 18 months must have been in an executive, managerial, or administrative capacity.or2. An Associates degree from an accredited college including or supplemented by 12 credits in the field and 5 years’ work experience as described in "1" above;or3. Education and/or experience equivalent.
