IT Business Analyst/Solution Designer

Brooklyn, NY The IT Business Analyst/Solution Designer elicits, documents, and validates requirements, and creates design solutions for applications that will properly meet business needs. The Business Analyst needs to have an intimate knowledge of the business and the ability to turn this knowledge into a vision for application functionality. The IT Business Analyst/Solution Designer is responsible for eliciting, understanding, and documenting business requirements; translating those requirements into functional requirements and mock-ups of the application; verifying that the application matches those requirements; and ensuring that the application meets end user expectations. The Business Analyst acts as a liaison between the Business, Development, Conversion, and Testing teams, provides insight into technical designs, verifies test conditions, and assists with User Acceptance Testing and Demonstrations. The successful candidate will engage in projects that deal with customer relationship management, e.g., tracking contacts, activities, correspondence, or issues, and work with system integrations that provide reporting, email communications, etc.

Job Description:
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce;
  • Understand business needs and elicit, document, and validate business requirements;
  • Analyze “as is” and “to be” business processes and conduct Gap Analysis;
  • Evaluate current business processes against the standard Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce functionality, and translate them into functional requirements and designs;
  • Conceptualize and design best-practice solutions that leverage product and industry knowledge, as directed by requirements;
  • Create, socialize, and refine detailed functional designs with other project team leads and client business representatives;
  • Prepare analysis and design deliverables, including high-level and detailed requirements, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, process flows, data dictionaries, data and UML models, content and message inventories, mock-ups, and solution designs;
  • Communicate designs to business, development, testing and training teams, and manage design updates;
  • Provide insight into designs, verify test conditions, and assist with User Acceptance Testing and Demonstrations;
  • Validate that the application fulfils requirements and meets end user expectations;
  • Manage defect triage during internal and external testing events;
  • Work with agency stakeholders, project managers, and project/product team(s) to obtain consensus and signoff on requirements and solution design deliverables;
  • Support project teams and customers in their understanding of end user and constituent needs, COTS-focused design, and Solution Design processes/methodologies;
  • Work with solution architects to support solution analysis, feasibility assessments, and value assessments as needed to recommend IT solutions to meet business and end user needs;
  • Provide peer review and peer support to other business analysts and solution designers in the group;
  • Provide mentoring to other BA’s to improve their delivery of BA and SD services;
  • Create, maintain, and conduct business analysis and solution design workshops;
  • Assist in creating new business analysis and solution design standards and guidelines and in adoption of new and emerging technologies and practices;
  • Transition all project artifacts and knowledge prior to disengaging from a project;
  • Perform special projects and initiatives as assigned.

Preferred skills:
  • Ability to clearly articulate and document business and technical information to achieve a common understanding by all project team members and stakeholders;
  • 5+ years’ work experience, with 3+ years’ experience as a Business Analyst and Solution Designer;
  • 3+ years’ of relevant experience working with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce;
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce concepts (i.e., Configuration, Customization, Workflow, Integration, etc.);
  • Deep know-how and proven record with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce implementation lifecycle (participated in at least one implementation);
  • Experience developing and employing functional project artifacts (Solution Designs, Use Cases, User Stories, Requirements Definitions, Process Definitions, User interface Design);
  • Experience working with formal SDLCs, business analysis methodologies, and major project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.);
  • Experience using standard project tools including Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Proven experience in defining requirements for solutions in multiple-entity environments (multiple agencies, business partners, etc.);
  • Experience with Portals for Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce;
  • Experience with Unified Service Desk for Microsoft Dynamics 365;
  • Experience in performing Analysis and Design on large systems integration projects with multiple organizations;
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or other issue/project tracking/management tool;
  • Ability to take initiative, be a decisive decision-maker, and show confidence in decisions made;
  • Ability to take strategic direction from executive management and participate in strategic planning activities throughout the lifetime of the project;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate to all project members and stakeholders;
  • Team player who works well with technical and non-technical resources;
  • Should be organized and good at managing deliverables, meeting notes, presentations, and other documentation/communications;
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM and/or Salesforce certification(s) a plus.

Qualification Requirements:
  • A bachelors degree in computer science or related field and 4 years experience related to the above

  • An associate’s degree in computer science or related field and 6 years experience related to the area(s) above
  • -or-
  • A bachelor’s degree in other areas and 8 years experience related to the area(s) above

  • Education and/or experience equivalent.
