In our 21st Century funded After School Program at the Gloria J. Parks Community Center we offer daily academic instruction, including reading support, as well as hands-on, structured recreational classes for about 100 students in grades K to 8 from 9 inner city District, charter, and private schools. The program runs 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. most weekdays early October to mid-June.
Our teachers should have a minimum 4-year college degree in education, math, science, social sciences or other related field and 1 year of experience working with children in supervisory role. Teaching certification is preferred.
Our teachers plan academic lessons, facilitate reading practice with an on-line curriculum, develop and implement enrichment activities that include hands-on project-based learning, provide homework help and alternative activities for students whose homework is completed; attend all required trainings, and maintain all classroom records.
