Follow-Up Assessor

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join The Liggins Institute at The University of Auckland as a Follow-Up Assessor on a 12-month fixed-term basis. This isa part-time position of 30 hours per week and therole is based in Christchurch.

The primary focus will be to contribute to an NZ wide study that aims to strengthen self-regulation and enhance oral language skills in an early childhood (ECE) setting. This project will involve conducting electroencephalographic (EEG) and eye-tracking assessments in a cohort of pre-school aged children, based in Christchurch, where the study is expanding to.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

• Contacting and recruiting participants
• Carrying out neuro-physiology studies in a pre-school age cohort, with appropriate training
• Collecting and transferring data
• Coordinating the day-to-day running of the study and ensuring all administrative, equipment and other operational requirements are met
• Support the Senior Clinical Research Coordinator when required

This role would suit a conscientious and proactive individual with strong organisational skills and a passion for people.

In addition, you will bring:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with children, whānau, ECE teachers and the research team
• Confidence in Tikanga Māori or have good cultural awareness and understanding
• A relevant tertiary qualification e.g. public health, nursing, medicine, developmental or educational psychology, education
