A locally owned and managed business looking for someone near Canandaigua to manage activity of a retail store. Lots of interesting customers, time to chat and meet locals and tourists. We buy and sell from the public, so you must be comfortable handing a little money and doing a small amount of paperwork. We also have some internet business, so printing labels from our Macintosh computers and packing up things securely is important. You must be able to list 25 pounds from time to time.
Five years ago we found a retired person that wanted a part time job. I am only posting this because he unexpectedly passed last weekend. We miss him - he can't be replaced, but I don't want to close the business. (Owner has a unrelated job, but still involved via text and in-person on the weekend).
Day-to-Day Duties:
Open from 10am-4PM, 3 or 4 days a week. You will need to work one or two Saturdays a month (1 Month+ advance notice). Closed on Sundays, during the major holidays, and when the weather is horrible.
Run a register, managed a cash drawer. Nothing too unusual here - a one-person operation.
Math is important. We have calculators all over the place, but an understanding of how to do "the math" on the fly is vital. We buy from the public, and most everything has a formula to calculate the buy and sell price.
Being friendly, patient, and professional (especially with the kids) is also important. We have many regular customers, but we also have some that only need our expertise one time and never be back.
