Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group of subject matter experts within the Finance Division. VCG is organized along business lines and clients of the group include Desk Heads, Line Product Control, Market Risk, Model Validation, Compliance, Legal Department, Middle Office, Internal Audit, external audit firms and the regulatory bodies in countries impacted by Citi’s footprint. VCG collaborates closely with its client base to ensure complete understanding of business valuation issues and accurate execution of valuation policy. The VP role is part of the Valuation Control & Analytics team based in Buffalo, NY for North America’s Credit Trading business.VCG’s primary responsibility is to reasonably ensure that risk portfolios are fairly valued in accordance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements. VCG works with trading and quantitative groups to fully understand the impact of valuation uncertainty on the desk’s pricing and any accompanying fair value adjustments. It also participates in the approval of new products.In addition to the valuation oversight, the role will focus on regulatory reporting requirements and internal and regulatory policy compliance for valuation and reporting. This role will be a part of a team that enhances VCG regulatory oversight, in line with heightened expectations from global regulators and internal and external auditors.This role will cover valuation control of US Credit Trading business and will require strong communication skills and teamwork across multiple locations and departments.Responsibilities:Oversee a team of 4-6 people (including 2 AVP managers) to perform and analyze price testing results and fair value adjustments for the North America Credit businesses for multiple types of cash and derivative products (CDS, Tranches, Options, bonds, loans, etc).

Manage the team and own the processes in all aspects of valuation control of the business, including validation of market data inputs, reporting and analysis.

Oversee Fair Value Classification, Level 3 Roll-Forward analysis, and other controls such as Multiple Price Per Instrument and Multiple Fair Value Per CUSIP review in accordance with the Fair Value reporting control framework.

Ensure production and implementation of guidelines / procedures for valuation adjustments and price testing across the business, with particular attention to the design of control.

Act as a Business Partner to the Business, Risk, Compliance and Finance.

Act as the first point of contact with New York City team and coach direct reports in the processes and professional growth.

Actively participate in monthly Independent Price Verification meetings with the Front Office.

Handle regular and ad-hoc requests from global teams, regulatory reviews.

Identify pricing issues that may require particular attention with critical analysis of all factor risks involved.

Management of managers

Strong leadership and accountability for Credit Valuation.

QualificationsBachelor’s Degree

5 or more years of experience in the financial industry

Strong Excel skills. Understanding Databases is a plus.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a rapidly changing environment.

Strong process improvement capabilities

Managing experience a plus
