Our Associates are the foundation of our continued success. If you're innovative and enjoy the thrill of making things happen - share our vision and grow with us.

About our team:

Our mechanical design team of approximately 10 people supports many new development and on-going engineering projects. We support industrial truck design, automation, energy, and basically all our products. We interact with all disciplines within the Corporate Engineering team. We have a unique situation where we can see a design go from CAD design concept, through verification testing and see it come off the manufacturing production line. All without leaving the building.

About the position:

We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and commercialization of mechanical products, modules, and sub-systems. You will:
  • Complete engineering design assignments of various basic to complex vehicle components and systems. Assignments may be specific to certain forklift models or could span multiple product lines.
  • Utilize traditional engineering techniques such as design, analysis, calculation, and test.
  • Work with cross-functional groups under the supervision of direct manager, or a lead engineer, to initiate original designs and make adaptations/modifications to existing designs.
  • Provide support to the Development Engineering team or may work on special projects.
  • Keep managers informed of progress, changes, priorities, and assignment(s) status.
  • Follow established best processes, forklift industry and internal standards to develop solutions.
  • Work from data provided by engineering in the form of sketches and drawings, notes, specifications, verbal descriptions and from own design concepts.
  • Evaluate design ideas to generate the best possible design considering the ease of accessibility for maintenance, minimum noise, clearance space for cables and services, ease of operation, safety and environmental standards, etc. in the most cost-effective way.
  • Prepare new or revised layouts of completed design in order to prepare finished, detailed drawings and engineering change requests to support manufacture of the product.
  • Work with external suppliers to develop components, modules or sub-systems.
  • Possibly travel to other Company locations.
  • Perform related work as assigned.

About you:
  • Associate's degree in mechanical engineering + 3 years of experience or a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and work in a team environment
  • Strong communication, planning, and technical presentation skills.
  • Proactive and creative approach with tasks

It would be great if you had:
  • Understanding of Creo Parametric 4.0 (or higher, including many PTC extensions).
  • Sound mechanical design principles.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication, welding, and GD&T.
