Summary: Maintain all Gateways facilities to ensure a safe and pleasant working environment, perform assigned maintenance tasks, and drive agency vehicles to transport clients and staff safely according to program needs and daily schedules.

Main Responsibilities

Perform various maintenance and repair functions as directed: carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, painting, grounds keeping and snow removal.

Construct and renovate office space and work areas, and assemble and move furniture and equipment as directed.

Maintain assigned Gateway machinery, equipment and tools as directed.

Maintain a written inventory of all equipment, supplies and tools assigned to him/her.

Drive van for the Transportation Department as needed.

Operate the vans safely in compliance with New York State Motor Vehicle and traffic laws and agency operation guidelines.

Maintain order among the passengers, enforce all rules and provide assistance to passengers entering and/or leaving the van as needed.

Report all accidents to the Director of Facilities Maintenance and Director of Transportation.

Member of the Code six response team for Blood Borne Pathogen spills.

Responsible for understanding and adhering to Gateway Community Industries Corporate Compliance Policy and Standards of Conduct as well as all applicable program rules, regulations and policies.

Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Required Skills:

Valid NYS Drivers License and maintain a driving record which meets the insurable criteria of the Agencys automobile insurance carrier.

Valid CDL Class C and Passenger Endorsement required, to be obtained within 90-days from date of employment.

High school diploma or equivalent

Two years of experience in maintenance as well as a willingness and ability to work rotating schedules, weekends, evenings and overtime as needed.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. and handle heavy equipment/material.

Must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurable criteria of the Agencys automobile insurance carrier.

Must have a favorable result from Background check, facilitated through fingerprinting and mandated by NYS law Chapter 575.

Must be able to pass a background check, drug test and D.O.T. physical
