Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for an Operations Analyst for a CONTRACT assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY. Responsibilities :

  • The preparation and supervisions of daily and monthly management revenues for ALMT, and their reconciliation with the estimates of the traders and with the financial accounts
  • Ensuring the Economic P&L is correct at the most granular level (Deal level or P&L Explain effect level when relevant).
  • Informing FO trading of any issue or adjustment having an impact on FO risks or on Cash management.
  • Responsible for maintaining an Audit Trail of all reconciliations, adjustments, FO sign-offs and MO P&L validations per Business perimeter to ease second level control and supervision.
  • Analysis and reporting of daily P&L with detailed breakdown for multiple products including repo, loan and deposits, treasuries, listed derivatives, FX and IR swaps.
  • Reconciliation of PnL to Front office estimates (when available) with detailed breakdown of P&L drivers
  • Contribution to resolution of Back office ledger vs. P&L systems breaks
  • Ensuring the pricing configuration complies with trading strategy and internal controls, collaboration with V&RC and Risk required to enforce consistency
  • Analysis, understanding and commentary on PnL using analytical tools
  • Working with front office and trade support part of the middle office to resolve operational and booking issues
  • Participation in business development initiatives across companysupport functions and locations
  • Leading new systems deployment which is not limited to being part of TAC/NAC, gathering requirements, testing UAT database, ensuring results match expectations and reporting impacts
  • Ensuring the MTD management P&Ls are consistent with the final end of month general ledger P&L
  • Discussing and reviewing trading P&Ls with management
  • Supervise Production, analysis, explanation and validation of daily economic P&L for the following Business Lines: ALM, Treasury, GMAT (Global Markets Treasury), and Corporate Banking Activity including PM (Portfolio Management) and CDL (Corporate Deposit Line).
  • Ensure that P&L periodic reporting is sent to Front Office, Risk, Operations and Finance management
  • Ensure the quality of the KPI reported for regulatory or Finance management
  • Ensure timely submission of P&L to FO for sign off
  • Supervise a team of 4-6 people
  • Responsible for the work allocation of team members, their training and evaluation.
  • Work closely with Finance to address Economic/Finance P&L breaks
  • By implementing procedures and controls that ensure the integrity of the suite of operating systems
  • By ensuring the appropriate actions from all P&L support teams in the calculation, reconciliation and publication of the daily P&L, as well as the management of portfolio referential
  • By archiving and storing all necessary supporting documents according to procedure
  • By producing and/or providing information for exception reporting to spot trends and take corrective actions as necessary
  • By updating at least once a year, job descriptions and objectives
  • By actively reviewing and approving training requests on a selective basis
  • By reviewing progress against objectives for all reporting staff at least once a year
  • By monitoring staff performance as compared to defined responsibilities and addressing performance issues as they arise.
  • By updating procedures at least once per year
  • By ensuring the proper segregation of duties and level of controls
  • By instituting a regular schedule of spot checking to ensure compliance with established controls and procedures
  • By reviewing KRI with the Operations Control department on a regular basis and updating as necessary
  • By continuously developing a control mentality in the department
  • By regularly following up on all audit findings and implementing corrective action as necessary
  • By liaising regularly with other locations on procedures, systems and other relevant topics that pertain to global functions
  • By implementing locally, global guidelines set out by the head office
  • By ensuring the needs of the team is well understood by the parties involved
  • By contributing to the testing of new software releases and/or enhancements before implementation
  • Ensure timely and efficient dissemination of data and the resolution of inquiries
  • Identify and escalate time / risk sensitive issues
  • Cohesively explain and maintain own position, logically, in light of differing views
  • Focus on the needs of the business

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • At least 10 years of experience in in P/L, Valuation, Trade support, Risk or Finance including at least 5 years in a P&L function supporting ALMT businesses & at least 5 years of management experience.
  • Fluency in financial markets with an emphasis on Financing activities
  • Working Knowledge of the following financial products: Loans & Deposits, FX Products, Interest Rate Swaps, Bonds, Repos, and Listed Derivatives.
  • Strong Excel & PC skills with proven ability to work with multiple systems
  • Experience with Fair Value Hedging methodologies (Interest Rate hedging, currency hedging, etc.)
  • Working Knowledge of best practices related to funding methodologies, cost of carry analysis, or other cash management related functions.
  • Working knowledge of liquidity P&L computation including balance sheet value at risk and liquidity transformation for cash products.
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Spirit of continuous improvement
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills a must
  • Ability to lead a team in a "split team organization
  • Display good relationship qualities, team spirit, and ability to work across teams
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to consistently meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
Preferred Skills:
  • Graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Math , Engineering or other quantitative disciplines
  • Experience in pricing, valuation or hedging of derivatives
  • Project management experience deploying new models or system migration.
  • Working Knowledge of programming languages - such as VBA & Python
