The Infrastructure Management Division at OTI is responsible for broad range of modernized and resilient technology services. These platforms enable City agencies to interoperate and to provide mission critical services to the public such as: Citynet backbone optical network and IP core network services spanning the five boroughs across 76 remote locations; next generation platforms for high-performance compute, high-density storage, low-latency database, and resilient data protection services; Citywide Citynet circuit provisioning and support; Citynet firewall network threat prevention; Mainframe systems services and support; Wireless and mobile technologies; Cloud services; Citywide unified communications and contact center services; 311 telephony services; and Citywide collaboration tools.

Job Description:
  • Independently administer complex orders from mayoral agencies and eligible entities;
  • Review requests for appropriateness and independently worked with the client community to prepare detailed Request for Service (RFS) records for the provisioning of complex services;
  • Independently work with our Finance and Cost Recovery Team to secure funding against client agency Telecommunications budgets and systematically communicate requests to all required network teams to initiate the provisioning process, starting with the Network Design & Engineering team to obtain network assignments to identify the network node/s of the complex circuit order/s to be sent to vendor carriers, while leveraging our Master Service Agreements (MSA);
  • Monitor due dates of carrier circuits orders and communicates directly to the carrier’s attention orders that are in jeopardy of missing due dates and/or are mission critical. Upon receipt of circuit turn up documents, they are distributed to internal service support groups (DC Ops & Network Field Operations) in a timely manner to ensure prompt installation and test certification;
  • Monitor Request for Service records to advance RFS’s next steps;
  • Direct communications with our internal network teams to ensure requests remain on target/on task to achieve coordination of production cutover. Once achieved, work with Network Infrastructure Monitoring to have the client connection added to monitoring and auto ticketing;
  • Keep abreast of remedy cases generated against new circuits and escalate circuit installation problems to vendor carriers for correction. Once issues are resolved, tickets are returned to internal support groups so that installations and line acquisitions can be completed;
  • Works on project orders and provides status reports as required;
  • Processes delete requests for services no longer required and/or upgraded;
  • Create component, asset records for long term retention in DoITT databases for ongoing support;
  • Handle special projects and initiatives as needed.

Preferred skills:
  • Experience working with carrier services, network data/voice, telecommunications services, and order/delivery process;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office products and work with online computer applications; ability to understand, interpret and create spreadsheets for reporting;
  • Experience working with NYC agencies a plus.

Qualification Requirements:
  • A bachelor’s degree including 24 credits in voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service) and 1 year of satisfactory full-time experience;
  • or
  • An associate degree including 12 credits in the field of voice telecommunications (telephone, radio, microwave, fiber optic and cellular service), or a related area and two years of experience as described in "1" above;
  • or
  • Education and/or experience equivalent.
