Your Team

The research and innovation team is focused upon next generation technologies for unique disease states as well as wearable medical technologies. The Lead Engineer will plan, coordinate, and direct research internally and externally to create, find and develop technologies to address specific target market problems to solve.

This position requires an experienced medical device engineer with expert level knowledge and experience in medical device development and related product development processes such as plastics, CAD design and simulation, mechanisms, biomaterials, human body interfaces, manufacturing process, product testing, sensing technologies, and electronics. This position will be located in the Skaneateles NY facility.

What you'll be doing
  • Primary Accountability for complete lead on technology development projects and supporting team
  • Work with Marketing and Technologists to generate prototypes, technical specifications, and designs to solve clinician's problems
  • Apply Ethnographic research methods through discussion and workflow study of clinicians and design areas to solve
  • Create target deliverables and schedule to progress technology development
  • Collaborate within the research and innovation team to set priorities, schedules, and to resolve technical hurdles
  • Prepare and present technical designs and project charter reviews to partners.
  • Direct engineers and technicians and other assigned personnel to complete builds, testing, documentation on an as-needed basis.
  • Work with outside organizations such as startups, universities, physicians, clinicians, and domain experts to drive solutions for Baxter
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Extensive Experience CAD design and simulation
  • Recognized Subject Matter expert within company
  • Highly Motivated Self-starter able and willing to work in a small team, fast paced environment, and drive others to excellence
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering with mechanical concentration or equivalent
  • 5+ years of validated experience in CAD Design, Ethnographic Research, and Product Design
  • Medical Device industry experience required
  • Shown ability to lead, influence, and empower multi-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to promote team interaction and execution
  • Strong eye for business
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrable Record of Results
