Your work will have real-world impact, and you’ll be supported in achieving your career goals.How will you make an impact?Thermo Fisher is looking for a dedicated Lead Assembly Technician to join our niche Cameras & Imagers team. C&I designs and produces specialized scientific and radiant hardened video cameras consisting of solid-state imaging systems used in life science applications. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Lead Technician will perform various mechanical and electromechanical assembly operations on solid-state cameras and subassemblies according to established documentation.Department: Operations, Cameras and ImagersLocation: Liverpool, NY USAShift: Monday to Friday 8am-4:30pm, occasional overtimeWhat will you do?Mechanical assembly of components using a variety of hand tools.

Interpret digital assembly work instructions and drawings.

Access and interpret electronic part lists and bill of materials.

Position parts during the assembly process using fixtures or templates.

Inspect connections for correct fit as components are being assembled.

Assemble wire and cable harnesses according to wiring diagrams using hand tools, including wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, heat guns, etc.

Assemble mechanical, optical, and electronic components and sub-assemblies in a Class 10,000 clean room environment

Perform manual and automatic die attach, epoxy dispense and wire binding operations on various solid-state imaging devices

Complete delicate tasks while viewing materials under high magnification through a microscope.

Operate oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, and frequency counters daily to facilitate the testing of product.

Electronically record test data and pass/fail results of assembled product.

Initiate electronic non-conformance records for defective materials.

Troubleshoot, modify, or repair circuit board wiring and components as advised by technicians or engineer.

Complete cycle counts of inventory and collaborate with Material Planning to reconcile discrepancies.

Practice 5S to maintain a safe and clean working environment that aligns with established procedures.

How will you get here?Education & Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or GED

5 years’ experience in a relevant manufacturing environment is preferred (especially within the electronics industry)

Preferred Experience:Great communicator, including proven written, oral, and presentation-giving skills

Strong communication skills and the ability to connect with and positively work within various levels of the organization

Knowledge & Skills:Ability to perform intricate manual assembly operations

Ability to follow schematics, detailed instructions and keep accurate records

Familiarity with electronic industry quality standards such as ANSI/IPC-A-610

Knowledge of the causes of electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage and methods for the prevention of ESD damage

Great teammate, willing to work closely with others on a wide variety of assembly tasks

Self-starter and able to complete daily work tasks with minimal direction

Knowledge of clean-room manufacturing best-practices considered an asset

ISO 9001:2015 internal audit training is helpful
