This position will serve as the Association Taste NY Business Specialist for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County. The Association Taste NY Business Specialist works under the supervision of the Association Executive Director to assist and coordinate the financial functions for Taste NY. The Association Taste NY Business Specialist will assist with management, monitoring, and preparation of budgets, forecasting for Taste New York, and assistance with all Taste NY high level financial reports. The Association Taste NY Business Specialist will assist with the planning and development of grants and contracts, monitor expenditures and revenues, as well audit records for compliance with established procedures. The Association Taste NY Business Specialist will conduct financial analyses and work with auditors regarding related audit findings. The Association Taste NY Business Specialist will assist with Taste NY expansion projects and special events.

Required Qualifications:

- Associate Degree or Equivalent Education (High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year transferable program/functional experience).

- Experience relevant to the role of the position.

- Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.

- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

- Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and practices.

- Ability to understand and the skill to implement a computerized accounting system.

- Proficient in computer operations of the Windows operating system, one or more major double-entry accounting software programs, and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel.

- Ability to create and utilize spreadsheets, operate calculators, and maintain an orderly set of files.

- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

- Ability to prepare and maintain accurate, error-free financial and statistical records.

- Ability to communicate financial record needs to others.

- Ability to work as a team member.

- Ability to identify problems and suggest solutions.

- Commitment to learn Cornell-specific accounting software (currently ACCPAC).

- Ability to ensure confidentially of information relating to financial and sensitive personnel matters at all times.

- Ability to organize and manage diverse workload focusing on identified priorities.

- Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing in English.

- Ability to work cooperatively, establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the Association in order to accomplish planned Association objectives.

- Must demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, integrity, sound professional judgment, tact, and maturity to effectively relate to people in order to accomplish Association’s financial goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in accounting, finance or related area.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and experience with non-profit finance is desirable.

- Prior experience in a double-entry accounting software program.

- Experience with non-profit, accrual basis of accounting is desirable.

- Experience in budget preparation and management, accounts receivable/payable tracking, expense/revenue tracking, cash flow tracking, reconciliation, reporting, compliance, financial statement preparation.

- Willingness to learn new skills and information.
