Summary of Role\: GlobalFoundries Fab 8 is seeking a highly skilled and motivated engineer to become part of our state of the art 300mm factory in Malta, New York working at the 14nm technology node. The engineer will work as part of the Fab 8 Quality Team with primary focuses including\: Clean Room Airborne Contamination Standards, Monitoring, and Controls. In addition, this position will oversee definition of, and compliance to, electrostatic discharge standards and monitoring. Essential Responsibilities Include\:

  • Troubleshoot excursions, particles and airborne molecular contamination (AMC) and develop plans to resolve the issue without impact to factory environment standards and manufacturing
  • Support Module Engineering teams and troubleshoot contamination issues impacting semiconductor manufacturing tools and processes
  • Ensure Adherence of all fab maintenance best known methods to comply with airborne factory contamination requirements
  • Develop a working knowledge of cleanroom air monitoring equipment to implement a data collection and analysis program that maintains a contamination free semiconductor manufacturing environment
  • Interface with the protocol monitoring team to enforce and respond to activities putting cleanroom contamination control at risk
  • Develop working knowledge and competence with all items affecting tool qualification activities including\: particulate count limits, air flow parameters, electro-static discharge, and others as required
  • Review, approve responses and ensure equipment suppliers are meeting their commitments for minienvironments as agreed to in the Capital Equipment Procurement (CEPD) document Chapter 8
  • Work with protocol team to review and approve materials and chemicals for use inside the cleanroom
  • Collaborate with internal partners to further augment their knowledge of Cleanroom Protocol while driving cooperation for the programs and creating buy-in amongst all team members through influential communication
  • Complete project assignments associated with Cleanroom Protocol standards as required and assigned

Qualification: Required Qualifications\:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor operations or a related discipline
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, technical manuals, and operations specifications
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and take action in a fast-paced environment
  • Fluent in English Language - written & verbal
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment per fabrication protocol/requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required

  • Demonstrated work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities
  • Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team.
  • Able to wear PPE in accordance with Emergency Response Protocols and OSHA standards
  • Occasional domestic and/or international travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications\:
  • Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Degree
  • Experience as a Project Engineer or Project Manager
  • Experience working in semiconductor manufacturing or in semiconductor tool/equipment/facilities
  • maintenance.
  • Knowledge or experience with gas phase analytical methods to measure ambient air contamination
  • Knowledge or experience with logical programming and database engines
  • Knowledge and familiarity with preventative maintenance software and automated process control systems
  • Knowledge or experience with design of experiments and statistical process control
  • Familiarity with Lean processes
  • Familiarity with design software and databases
