Summary of Role\: GlobalFoundries is seeking a skilled and motivated intern software developer to join our Fab 8 Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) team in Malta, NY. This is an exciting opportunity to help Fab 8 tackle productivity and efficiency challenges with software tools and a BigData mindset. The objective of the internship project is to\: Learn the productivity, efficiency, or other challenges in Fab 8 and develop contemporary software solutions which can lead to cost savings for the Semiconductor Manufacturing operation. Essential Responsibilities include\:

  • Programming in one of Java, Python, Perl, or javascript
  • Exploring AWS or other cloud-hosted service platforms
  • Using and generating databases - structured and unstructured
  • Working with the CIM team and other Fab 8 teams
Other Responsibilities\:
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
Qualification: Required Qualifications\:
  • BS Student enrolled in an accredited program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  • Excellent academic standing
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated; able to take ownership of assignments, develop work plans and proactively seek feedback to ensure objectives are aligned and met
  • Team player; able to succeed in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Preferred Qualifications\:
  • Minimum of 3 months experience with software/programming languages (i.e. C, C, Perl, Python, Java, VBA etc.), within UNIX environments
  • Interest in a Manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated interest in BigData platforms and cloud opportunities such as those hosted in AWS
