Participates in Performance Improvement activities. Performs all duties of a licensed Pharmacist.Responsibilities Include:

Plans, organizes and coordinates daily operations of the Pharmacy Department.

Coordinates workflow to facilitate efficient and timely delivery of pharmaceutical services and maintain safe dispensing practices.

Evaluates and implements procedural changes to ensure smooth operations.

Prepares, assesses and distributes work schedule. Reports schedule discrepancies to management.

Maintains inventory and records of investigational drugs, control substances and methadone.

Maintains adequate pharmaceutical inventory. Educates and promotes staff participation in inventory control procedures.

Participates in development and implementation of new programs to meet departmental goals and improve services.

Selects, prepares, and dispenses drug products to fill inpatient and outpatient prescriptions.

Collaborates with health care personnel to provide information on drug action or delivery of various medications. Provides compatibility information for IV administration of various drugs.

Screens for drug allergies and interactions. Notes drugs or classes of drugs contraindicated in specific disease states.

Manufactures, prepares, and labels compounds, solutions, and other sterile products.

Conducts pre-admission/discharge patient medication interviews, as required. Reviews patient charts and nursing medications charting documents to maintain accurate patient profile. Ensures drugs are reordered as per hospital policy and procedure.

Performs related duties, as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy and three (3) years related experience in one of the hospital specialties: Pediatrics, Oncology, Critical Care, Sterile Product Compounding or other specialty (as determined by Administration at time of recruitment), required;

ORPharmD, required.Acquired competency in a specialty (as determined by Administration at time of recruitment) within 6 months from Date-of-Hire, required.Advanced specialty, preferred.

Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State, required.
