We are VoxPop, a legendary NYC coffeehouse and community space dedicated to books, culture, and meaningful dialogue. Founded in 2004 in Brooklyn, we have long been a hub for grassroots social change, public events, and creative resistance. Now, VoxPop is relaunching as a worker-owned cooperative, and we’re seeking your support to take our mission to the next level.
We need a financially qualified individual to act as a co-signer for our loan application with the Brooklyn Cooperative Fund. This loan will help us expand our operations, further develop our coffeehouse, and continue making a positive impact on the community.
What We Need From You:
1. A major bank credit card held for at least two years with a credit limit of $5,000–$7,000.
2. A stable annual income of at least $80,000.
3.Proof of financial stability, including:
- Social Security Number (SSN) for verification.
- A copy of your credit score.
- Proof of address (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement).
4. Someone who shares VoxPop’s values and believes in the power of community-driven businesses.
What’s In It for You?
1. We will pay you $1,500 in one lump sum upon loan approval.
2. You’ll directly contribute to a business that promotes books, coffee, democracy, and grassroots social change.
Who We Are:
VoxPop is more than a coffeehouse; we are a movement. Our mission is rooted in:
1. Worker-Owned Cooperatives: We aim to create a model that demonstrates the potential of creative socialism and grassroots democracy.
2. Books and Coffee: Offering a space for intellectual growth and community connection.
3. Creative Resistance and Nonviolence: Inspired by leaders like Gandhi, King, and others.
4. Community Development: Actively engaging in fun, interfaith, and progressive initiatives.
How It Works:
1. As a co-signer, you’ll guarantee the loan alongside VoxPop.
2. Upon loan approval, we will issue your $1,500 payment immediately.
3. The loan will be responsibly managed by our worker-owner team, ensuring minimal risk or liability for you beyond your co-signer role.
Who We’re Looking For:
1. Someone with financial stability and a love for books, coffee, and progressive ideals.
2. A person excited to support a business that fosters grassroots democracy and community engagement.
