This is a real job posting, hand-typed by a real person.

Background:
-
My name is Daniel. I run a small equipment repair company in NYC. Customers call for service. I schedule jobs. Currently customers need to leave a voicemail (or send an email) to request service. I don't have the time (or patience) to answer my incoming calls, but at the same time, I don't get enough incoming calls to justify hiring a full time employee. My solution is this job posting.
Job Description:
You will
- Be "reachable by phone" between 8am - 6pm (M-Th) and 9am-2pm (Friday).
- Be polite, courteous and professional to my customers.
- Answer some basic questions.
- Submit a service request form (online) while on the call with the customer.
- If you miss a call, you call the customer back. Simple.
You are
- A mature, serious and responsible individual.
- A person who understands the value of honesty.
- A native English speaker.
- Comfortable speaking on the phone and filling out forms on the web.
- Interested in a low-intensity, low-stress part-time work-from-wherever job.
- Interested in possibly taking on more work (for more pay).
Compensation:
-
You get paid per completed service request form. That means you are at the mercy of customer calls. More calls = more $, fewer calls, well you get it. It takes between 5-8 minutes (on average) per customer call / service request form. You get paid $6/per form submission. That's around $50/hr. Average is around 3-10 calls per day. Some days you'll make that, other days you won't. Its how it is. This gig will not pay your bills (unless you live on the moon) but its some extra working at your leisure. I'm paying you a higher per-hour to make up for the fact that the is unpredictable.
You may also be able to pick up some additional hours doing job-related stuff for me (parts research, scheduling, dealing with vendors, etc) but that will be at a lower hourly rate.
Payment is bi-weekly
-
- Cash (pick up in Brooklyn), or Zelle / Venmo
Training & Probation
-
- 2 hours of training (unpaid). If you stay past 60 days you get a $100 bonus.
