Salary Range: Min: $101,958 Mid: $135,944 Max: $169,930

Location: 130 Livingston and other locations as required

Hours of Work: 9:00 AM -5:30 PM (7.5 hours/day) or as required

Summary

The position of Lead Tech Support is accountable for providing technical support and management of personnel in support of mission critical systems at New York City Transit, Bridges & Tunnels, MTA HQ, Metro North, and Long Island Railroad locations. This position is responsible for provisioning new physical and virtual servers and their associated storage. The position provides computer resources to the above-named agencies for their mission critical applications and to direct and plan all activities of hardware support, maintenance, and administration of hardware equipment to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all servers and SAN equipment.

Responsibilities

Leadership • Manage and supervise the resources supporting the server operations in the various locations throughout the MTA. • Provide daily interface and liaison between TIS and Operating Divisions. Provide leadership, direction, policy, and standards for remote and local support of Computer and Technology related Operations • The leadership and direction provided ensures that the computing services provided meet the customers' requirements while keeping in mind the overall goals of the MTA.

Planning • Direct and plan all activities of hardware support, maintenance, and administration of hardware equipment to ensure the effective, efficient, and secure operation of all servers and SAN equipment. • The firmware levels of the various hardware components need to be kept current. Software fixes and anti-virus patches need to be applied to prevent the equipment from being rendered inoperable.

Problem Solving • Coordinate resources and solutions for specialized and intractable technical problems. Develop and nurture a cross functional rapid response team and escalation support process. • Escalation procedures need to be established and followed to ensure that the right resources are brought to bear on a problem in a timely fashion.

Qualifications • Advanced knowledge of information, communication, security, and application development technologies. • Extensive knowledge of industry trends related to MTA business goals and objectives. • Exceptional verbal and written skills. • Extensive financial udgeting planning.

Education and Experience • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, or Information Services. • A minimum of 10 years of Information Technology experience with at least 4 years of progressive IT managerial or leadership experience. • 5 years of IT planning and supporting strategic business goals is preferred.• Experience with HPE ProLiant, Superdome, and Synergy server systems is preferred.• Experience with HPE, EMC, Netapp enterprise storage systems is preferred.

As an employee of MTA Headquarters, you may be required to complete an annual financial disclosure statement with the State of New York, if your position earns more than $101,379 (this figure is subject to change) per year or if the position is designated as a policy maker.
