This position is eligible for telework which is currently two days per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.

In order to protect our employees and continue to provide safe and reliable service to our communities, as of November 14, 2021 we are requiring all new MTA hires to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their start date. The selected candidate will perform information technology functions related to deep data research and analysis, establishes the workflow and stages that prepare, process and deliver predictions and inferences.

Level 1
  • Work with data engineers to process, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis.
  • Work with large data sets to conduct exploratory data analysis and visualization, using error metrics to assess the effectiveness and accuracy of data sources and data gathering techniques.
  • Maintain and enhance machine learning processes, using performance metrics to evaluate ongoing effectiveness of existing models
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting to resolve immediate customer needs, escalating as necessary

Level 2

Same As Level 1 With The Following Additional Responsibilities
  • Apply quantitative methods including but not limited to descriptive analysis univariate and multivariate tests, statistical modeling etc., identifying opportunities to optimize and proactively performing data exploration to discover future opportunities.
  • Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques and feature engineering to identify optimal methodologies for a given problem. Create, test, and implement custom data models and algorithms to address business objectives and client needs.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for issues including those escalated from more junior colleagues to resolve immediate customer needs.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and test new products and technologies to meet current and future software application requirements.

Level 3

Same As Level 2 With The Following Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide counseling and guidance to developers during build and deployment to suggest best approaches for the design of files and systems.
  • Produce and maintain documentation to ensure up to date information is available.
  • Develop processes and tools to continuously monitor and analyze model performance with respect to resource use as well as accuracy. Implement improvements in existing quantitative solutions based on feedback from these tools.
  • Research new technologies/products, prepare preliminary evaluations of technologies/products and associated costs. Develop and present recommendations to support anticipated future business needs.

Level 4

Same As Level 3 With the Following Additional Responsibilities
  • Design, engineer, and document solutions and standards to ensure business needs are met.
  • Develop analytics workflows, incorporating processes and tools to continuously monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy for ongoing improvements in quantitative solutions.
  • Lead research projects, working with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions and recommend solutions to technology and business problems
  • Provide technical leadership to project teams, maximizing and sharing learning.
  • Provide guidance and technical coaching to less experienced staff to implement and support efficient and effective workflows and develop technical talent

Level 1

  • Assists in configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of database technologies and resources to ensure that all application and systems availability targets are met.
  • Troubleshoots database errors and other problems to resolve immediate customer needs.
  • Assist with the development of system backup schedules, verification testing and all related documentation requirements to ensure accurate and timely information on policies and procedures is available.
  • Work with system administrators, network administrators, help desk staff and other IT technical resources to coordinate database infrastructure requirements.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new database products and technologies, under the direction and guidance of senior colleagues, to meet current and future software application requirements .

Level 2

Same As Level 1 With The Following Additional Qualifications

  • Configures, installs, tests, and maintains database technologies and resources to ensure that all application and systems availability targets are met.
  • Provides ongoing support and troubleshooting for database issues including those escalated from more junior colleagues to resolve immediate customer needs.
  • Monitors associated software such as version upgrades, patches, and tools and performance tune databases and related servers to ensure consistent database performance.
  • Performs database backup on a regularly scheduled basis, and database recovery when required to provide users with minimal interruptions in service.
  • Assist with the development of system backup schedules, verification testing and all related documentation requirements to ensure accurate and timely information on policies and procedures is available.
  • Assists in project roll-outs by executing data migration activities to ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Investigates, evaluates, and tests new products and technologies to meet current and future software application requirements.

  • Implements change management/change control processes to improve database performance.
  • Provides counseling and guidance to developers during application development to suggest best approach for the design of files and systems.
  • Produces and maintains database documentation to ensure up to date information is available.
  • Performs capacity analysis and planning for databases on file to ensure sufficient resources are available to hold needed data.
  • Develop system backup schedules, verification testing and all related documentation requirements to ensure accurate and timely information on policies and procedures is available.
  • Researches new technologies/products, prepares a preliminary evaluation of technologies/products and associated costs, and develops and presents recommendations to support anticipated future business needs.
  • Guide junior database staff in the performance of their tasks to develop technical talent.

  • Leads the continual redesign of the organization's data model and/or the transition to a common model to improve data efficiency.
  • Establishes and documents data policies and standards for the enterprise to ensure information is available and up to date.
  • Formulates procedures to ensure that communications of data updates are distributed to all associates and that they are adhered to.
  • Consults to the IT community to understand customer data needs and requirements.

DESIRED SKILLS
