New York, New york city 00000 New york city USA

Vacancy expired!

IntroductionThomas J. Watson said it best: 'Good design is good business.' Visualization is critical to discovering data-driven insights and effectively communicating that knowledge to others. Designers at IBM work to create experiences that work together, work the same, and work for our clients. Does the thought of creating the platform at the heart of solutions like Watson, Blockchain, IoT, and Security excite you? If so, read on!Your Role and ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Performance Management (EPM) is part of IBM's global Finance & Operations organization, reporting to the CFO. We are digitizing the management system of the new IBM, focused on Hybrid Cloud and AI. In doing so, we improve the work-lives of thousands of IBMers by making the business insights they care about easier to consume, understand, and act on. EPM ends the 'data chase'-the time and effort people spend finding, aligning, manipulating, assimilating, and debating the data they need to understand their business. And EPM changes leadership discussions from a focus on understanding the data to a focus on taking actions to improve performance. The EPM design team is looking for a curious, pragmatic, and driven design research intern. The ideal candidate's primary interests and skills revolve around design research, big data, and business performance. They'll work closely with our design team, non-design teammates and stakeholders, and users. They'll help with existing research and design workstreams and shape and lead their own focused project in line with our team's business goals. This position is a remote role based in the United States.RESPONSIBILITIESWork hand-in-hand with a cross functional team to facilitate the practice of design and design research to ensure that decisions and priorities meet users' needs.

Assist with generative and evaluative design research, following methods, protocols and best practices as directed by the team's research lead.

Log, code, analyze qualitative and quantitative data and discuss insights with the team's research lead.

Assist the team as needed to help deliver better user insights, experiences, and outcomes.

Gain a working understanding of IBM's design thinking framework, principles, and skills.

CANDIDATE PROFILEBias toward action: You aren't satisfied sitting back and waiting to be told what to do: you have the courage to try lots of things knowing that going through the loop is the antidote to stagnation.

User-focused: You always approach problem solving from a human-centered point-of-view.

Communication: You are highly skilled in multiple channels, technologies, and formats and can develop communications with the right tone and nuance for various audiences.

Self-sufficiency: You don't require enormous amounts of direction or assignment to know what to do, how to add value, or contribute to project outcomes.

Systems thinker: You always approach a problem through the context of the systems in which it exists and those that your solution will leverage and impact.

Organized: You have outstanding coordination, planning, and sense-making abilities.

Detail-oriented: You can spot a typo from 50 yards out. You absolutely sweat the small stuff- but can also determine when it's more expedient to focus on the big picture.

Tenacious: You are in it to win it and don't get discouraged easily: you respond to adversity with a healthy dose of humbleness and gumption.
