Job Description

Our mission is to help the Media Service Line find simplicity and sophistication in everything we do.

The Director, Business Operations will set up world class client relationships with new and prospective clients, ensuring business continuity when transitioning to dentsu Media. Our mission is to set ourselves and the client up for success with the most efficient and effective ways of working (e.g. data, tech, tools, sourcing), and by doing so, deliver growth, margin and team benefits from the beginning. We deliver on the pitch promise to clients, and we make working on new business rewarding for our media talent thereby improving retention. The Director, Business Operations is also accountable for oversight of the Sr. Manager whose main responsibility will be the implementation of Agency best practices and operating procedures.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Increase the speed and sophistication of new client onboarding to dentsu Media
  • Act as the Operations transition lead, a highly skilled senior client facing person, that manages the overall transition process and successfully navigates external and internal workstreams
  • Present and deliver the transition plan, navigating all internal and external barriers to deliver a fast and flawless transition
  • Responsible for managing the delivery of all aspects of the client transition (globally/in-market) and ensuring this is achieved within the agreed upon timeframes
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, incumbent representatives, and key executives throughout the process to successfully embed new clients in to dentsu Media
  • Utilize a well-honed checklist and best practices guide necessary to plan and migrate a client across operational functions and the breadth of digital and traditional media channels
  • Project manage the transition across functional workstreams and media channels, including tracking of activity completion, running of internal and external status meetings and identification and escalation of any issues and blockers
  • Anticipate needs and curtail issues relying on experiences overseeing integrated media efforts
  • Provide ongoing support to new business efforts during slow times, including but not limited to:
  • Develop a criteria and rubric for Operations’ engagement to new client onboarding
  • Enhance and harmonize our new client onboarding repository with editable materials, detailed guidance notes and enhanced templates
  • Consider and evaluate automation and/or project management solutions to improve speed, accuracy, data, and visibility

Identification and Oversight of Agency Best Practices and Operating Procedures

  • Work closely with SVP, Business Operations and Client Leader(s) to identify ‘hot-button’ topics that require best practices and operating procedures on behalf of the Dentsu media service line
  • Analyzing potential risks that process changes may or may not pose to the organization and our clients
  • Outline and publish key performance metrics with stretch targets for improvement
  • Oversight of critical operational aspects of standardizing our ways of working – systems, processes, business requirements – and serve as escalation point and impediment removal within the Agency
  • Formulate and propagate a continuous improvement methodology
  • Demonstrate advanced business skills in a proactive, decisive, and logical manner

  • Serves as an ambassador within dentsu Media and demonstrates grace in challenging internal/external scenarios

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 8-10+ years of media agency experience or related field/role
  • Advertising agency or professional services experience preferred
  • In-depth experience and knowledge of media planning and activation, business management, and internal operations
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Teams, SharePoint), Workfront, Smartsheets, etc.
  • Exposure to Media Tools, Lumina, MediaOcean/DDS, Salesforce, and willingness to evaluate and learn software/databases as required
