The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.The person in this role will report to the head of the Global Sanctions Screening & Reporting Group (GSSRG), within the Financial Crimes Risk Management's (FCRM) Customer Due Diligence Group. GSSRG is the business owner for the enterprise platform used to screen transactions and/or customer records for sanctions targets, politically exposed persons, and other parties. The group has employees both inside and outside of the United States to ensure global coverage of the screening processes. The major duties of GSSRG are:Managing screening alerts, including dispositioning the alerts as false positives or positive matches

Conducting research as appropriate to determine if an alert is a positive match

Conducting research for regulatory disclosures and responses to regulatory inquiries

Analyzing potential sanctions matches for regulatory requirements

Implementing program changes to conform with new regulatory requirements

Directing the blocking of assets and rejection of transactions as required by law

Filing required regulatory reports, primarily with the Office of Foreign Assets Control at the U.S. Department of the Treasury

Safeguarding, overseeing and reconciling blocked assets

Maintaining quality assurance processes in the screening system

Maintaining Service Level Agreements with lines of businesses

Providing advisory support and credible challenge to lines of business

The person in this role must help lead and maintain GSSRG's strategic road map on technology infrastructure, taking into account ongoing industry developments in sanctions screening solutions and related technology concepts such as artificial intelligence. This person will also assist in the development of a governance framework for the use of suppression and false positive rules in relation to ongoing model governance, and will lead GSSRG's ongoing model tuning efforts including periodic threshold validation in concert with model owners and compliance staffs.This Senior Officer role will need to develop strong relationships and work closely with groups across Wells Fargo, including Financial Crimes Risk Management); technology; operations and customer service; line of business leaders; model risk management; the Legal Department; Internal Audit and other testing groups; etc.Required Qualifications10+ years of experience in risk management (includes compliance, financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, business process management) or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Other Desired QualificationsSignificant experience applying requirements of OFAC (and non-US equivalent) regulations and associated compliance programs, as well as AML laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, USA PATRIOT Act and associated sanctions and compliance programs.

Extensive experience designing and executing enterprise-wide financial crimes risk management programs, including high-risk customer due diligence, anti-money laundering monitoring and investigations, customer and third party investigations, global sanctions screening, investigations, reporting and blocking, surveillance systems and model ownership.

Extensive experience in the business, technological, and regulatory aspects of sanctions screening system planning, design, acquisition, implementation, and execution.

Deep understanding of the ever-evolving governance and regulatory environments as well as industry and financial crime-related best practices.

Management of larger, more complex functions or projects (especially related to technology and model management).

Knowledge/expertise related to payment systems.

Organizational courage and willingness to make tough, informed decisions and thoughtfully share independent perspectives.

Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with an ability to translate ambiguous ideas/issues into well-defined plans/solutions with a track-record for delivering results.

An ability to develop and articulate sound proposals to key stakeholders, and an ability to influence and drive timely decision making.

Advanced Degree preferred (Masters, MBA, or JD).
