job summary:

Our client, a rapidly growing Financial Services firm is looking for a Product Owner to join the newly assembled Chief Data Office. This role is for a delivery focused individual to work in collaboration to improve the ability to develop and deliver first class data that can be used by multiple stakeholder teams across the firm.

A primary objective of this role is to enable internal and external customers to access data to support analytical workflow needs, new product innovation and existing workflows, and operational reporting. You will represent the Voice of the Customer, and understand the solutions that will benefit them. You will have a key role as they work to leverage and integrate emerging technology to transform our data processes. You will work closely with Global Content Operations senior management and other CDO leaders, as well as key stakeholders in analytical and product delivery groups, and technical specialists in your squad.

You will be skilled at defining product roadmaps, and breaking them in to smaller prioritized components that enable frequent delivery of value. You will use excellent communication skills to articulate their value, gather and provide feedback; and you will be responsible for delivery of the desired outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in data management / delivery capacity
  • Considerable relevant industry or functional experience in financial data
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering multi-strand initiatives
  • Agile practitioner capabilities and experience working with or in Agile teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting and collaborating with other leaders and associates throughout the organization, including executive management
  • Ability to influence the direction and thinking of senior stakeholders
  • Ability to achieve successful results in a matrixed organization
  • Solid team-work, coordination, organization and planning skills
  • Ability to capture requirements and the skills to balance strategic needs while focusing on the customer
  • Ability to inspire and motivate the Agile Squad to continuously develop and grow
  • Self-driven, confident and able to work at pace, to make decisions and eliminate defects
  • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) a plus

responsibilities:

  • Overall owner and advocate of the product
  • Define overall strategy and direction of the products based on understanding of organizational goals and analytical groups needs
  • Work with stakeholders including Content leaders to understand their needs and help develop the product strategy and roadmap
  • Define and clearly communicate a prioritized roadmap that aligns with stakeholder needs and expectations, including measurable improvements to support the key business goals
  • Provide updates to senior management at QBRs, in addition to other regular updates to stakeholders on strategy, successes, learning and progress on product vision
  • Own the backlog, prioritization, roadmap and MVP
  • Understand high level requirements and decompose these into smaller packages of work for implementation within the squad team
  • Work closely with the Scrum Master and other members of the Agile Squad team to deliver key milestones, including managing and prioritizing the sprint backlog to ensure the work items delivered meet expectations
  • Lead and inspire the Agile Squad to instill quality, encourage innovation and reduce defects
  • Work closely with other Product Owners within the Data Tribe to ensure alignment with the CDO's strategic vision and direction
  • Develop collaborative relationships
