Position: Senior Python Data Engineer Location: NC, TX, NY or Remote Duration: 12+ months Rate: Open Interview: Video The client has launched the first new national payments system in over 40 years. To modernize its payment systems and to leverage the power of the cloud computing, the client launches a series of initiatives to transform on premise applications to cloud applications. This is a contract to hire for a Senior Python Data Engineer for RTP Insourcing. The candidate will help build a cloud data platform to onboard new data streams, transform data to canonical representation, build BI data warehouse and generate data extracts for consumption by internal and external customers. You will be working closely with the engineering, BI and product teams to migrate existing reporting applications to AWS, design and build a new data and business intelligence framework to enable analytics, data science and reporting across all product lines. Qualifications required: 5+ years' experience with Python and software engineering fundamentals Extensive experience in data engineering building commercial data applications SQL expertise and understanding of dimensional modeling and performance optimization principles Experience operationalizing and scaling ETL pipelines Strong experience in working in a regulated environment and data masking principles Experience working with streaming frameworks such as Kafka, Kinesis, MQ, etc. Qualifications desired: Experience Tableau, Qlik, Quicksight, Power BI. Looker or other BI tools Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform Experience with Flask, Node.js, React and other web technologies Success factors/job competencies: The successful candidate will have extensive experience developing complex data applications, including ETL pipelines and data quality monitoring, expertise in variety of big data technologies and will be able to contribute to the design, development, operationalization and scaling complex data processes including integration between multiple sources and streams. The candidate will need to be detail oriented but also able to understand the overall environment (internally and externally) and interact with and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and external clients at all levels. The candidate should be a strong team player. The ability to work effectively cross-organizationally and with external clients will be a key factor to success in this role. Physical demands and work environment: Ability to work extended hours on a computer. Occasional travel between NY, NC and TX offices.
