About the TeamThe Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) team’s mission is to enhance how our stakeholders perceive and experience Citi. We protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues. The Corporate Communications team is a nimble team in ESPA that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from Executive communications and public engagements to corporate reputation programs as well as communications that support our various functions. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal digital communications for a global workforce of more than 240,000 colleagues. We bring a client service attitude to our work at all times and always strive to be energetic and maintain a good sense of humor.About the RoleWorking with leaders and partners throughout the Retail Bank, the Vice President will build and drive internal and external communications efforts that proactively tell Citi’s Retail Bank. Storytelling priorities include mortgage and small business lending, with close ties and engagement with the U.S. Consumer Wealth Management team. The Vice President will work to ensure the communications of these programs are aligned to broader company objectives and enhance colleague engagement at all levels of the company. Citibank’s retail branch network spans New York City, Miami, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C. This role will also support our ongoing external consumer fraud prevention campaign and tell the story of how the bank is prioritizing the development of simpler, smarter, mobile-first banking products.This role sits within Citi’s U.S. Personal Banking Public Affairs team – a creative, nimble, high energy, fast-moving, dedicated group that values a proactive, collaborative communications approach and the ability to work under tight deadlines while upholding the highest professional and ethical standards. This role reports to the Head of U.S. Personal Banking Communications.Responsibilities:

In partnership with the U.S. Retail Banking Public Affairs team, help drive and build up on our cohesive, strategic approach to bring to life effective local PR plans in U.S. Retail Banking’s six core markets. Travel and staff events as necessary.

Help develop proactive integrated communications strategies inclusive of earned media, influencer, data-driven storytelling, events, community engagement and more.

Work with the team to maintain, strengthen and/or build relationships with outlets covering retail banking, mortgage lending, small business lending, community lending, fraud prevention, and consumer wealth management within relevant sectors, including: local, lifestyle, real estate, personal finance, retail, customer experience and financial inclusion/D&I.

Identify trends and find ways to insert Citibank’s story into earned press – with a focus on keeping a drumbeat of coverage going in between news moments.

Manage reputational risks and issues management, helping evolve our systems in the process.

Prepare press releases and other communications materials including talking points, press statements, award submissions, pitches, and other briefing materials.

Write and edit internal messages from senior executives.

Leverage LinkedIn as an effective external and internal communications channel for USRB executives.

Partner with Media Services and Content teams to identify and develop new communications tactics and opportunities to drive employee awareness and two-way engagement.

Collaborate with U.S. Retail Banking business teams to advise on effective message development use of platforms and support governance model for communications.

Work as a collaborative partner within the firm – building relationships with key business leaders within Public Affairs and U.S. Personal Banking and Wealth Management – as well as with external agencies and key external partners.

Support internal reporting and audit needs.

Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required, preferable in communications or another related field.

Minimum 6-8+ years of work experience in public relations, preferably in personal financial services communications and/or experience with local market comms strategies.

Experience working across the entire marketing mix, building and launching omnichannel communication strategies, working directly with marketing teams or as part of an IAT structure.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Highly proactive, determined and results-driven.

Interest in and deep understanding of internal and external storytelling and local and consumer media landscapes. Ability to mine for unique stories, craft compelling narratives and place them in compelling earned, owned and internal channels.

A strong background in developing integrated internal communications plans that align with topline corporate messaging and external communications.

Creative mindset and ability to generate innovative ideas to create surround sound for the business.

A team player with a track record of success delivering high-quality work in a fast paced, dynamic environment.

Demonstrated project management and decision-making skills.

Superb judgment, problem-solving ability and resourcefulness.
