The client seeks a dynamic and experienced SEO Optimization Analyst who is passionate about SEO and has the ability to think strategically about our content experience.The SEO Optimization Analyst will take a hands-on approach to data-driven decision-making to empower SEO campaigns from the ground up, through to post-launch and analysis. This person should have a thorough understanding of SEO keyword research, site schema rules and the ability to perform content analysis to identify areas where we can create new experiences in our product to serve the interests of web searchers. This work is connected to some of our most important user research and product initiatives as we test out ways to develop our products to reach new audiences. This position will drive organic growth by planning and executing strategic initiatives and the ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills as well as the ability to effectively articulate complex ideas to non-SEO audiences. This position will sit within our teams focused on product development and partner closely with others at the company. If you come from an agency or ecommerce background this may remind you of content marketing campaigns you have developed and delivered in the past, including keyword gap analysis and expansion exercises. We are looking for you to:
  • Perform keyword research and support editorial production of strategic SEO content
  • Track and monitor performance using dashboards on an ongoing basis using traditional SEO tools and data
  • Perform content gap analysis to expand our coverage in Search
  • Alongside the wider SEO team, review search content performance and make recommendations to improve, as well as make retrospective recommendations
  • Develop and iterate on link-building strategies alongside the wider SEO team at WSJ
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of stakeholders to contribute to our SEO strategy
  • Identify key growth opportunities for WSJ’s guides, rankings, reviews and explainers
  • Work with and collaborate with external SEO vendors
We’d like you to have:
  • At least 3 years of experience in successfully developing and executing SEO campaigns
  • Strong analytical skills and a love for data and SEO
  • Solid understanding of content for marketing purposes with in depth knowledge of Google’s ranking methodologies and algorithms
  • Advanced knowledge of Adobe Analytics, Google Search Console and SEO tools such as Ahrefs or SEMRush
  • Comfortable managing projects and deliverables
  • Methodological in testing ideas and A/B testing
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practices including site hygiene, URL practices, publishing processes, web crawling, AMP pages, and mobile web optimization.
