Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Lead Engineer Front End for a FULL-TIME assignment with one of our premier Insurance Services clients in New York, NY. This is a Hybrid position with a few days a month in our Hudson Yards, NYC location. Covid 19 vaccinations required for this position. Person will code 50% and mentor and manager associate engineers 50%. Preference is NYC metro area with 1 2 visits to the office per month. Will consider East Coast with some travel at our expense. Responsibilities :

  • Be a player/coach leading a small team of front-end engineers responsible for ideation, design, delivery and maintenance of engineering solutions
  • Represent engineering, working side by side with designers and product owners, to collaboratively define and refine our digital products
  • Champion a focus on software quality, shipping production-level code focused on long-term maintainability
  • Manage team performance, including coaching for career growth, creating a healthy team environment
  • Effectively communicate team goals, seek out information needed for the team to be impactful and provide resources required to achieve goals while removing roadblocks along the way
  • Set clear expectations for all team members, holding them accountable to agreed upon goals
  • Conduct code reviews and provide thoughtful, meaningful and constructive feedback
Required Skills:
  • 5+ years of work experience in software engineering, including 2+ years of hands-on technical management experience of software engineers
  • Experience with React, Redux, NextJs, Typescript, REST
  • Experience managing remote teams in a startup or venture-like operating model; experience in a Zero to One launch desired
  • Strong analytical approach to problem solving and consensus building
  • Excitement, energy, strong collaborative people skills and the ability to communicate cross-functionally across all levels in formal and informal settings
  • Ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, and thoughtfully defend one's stance against disagreement or skepticism
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment where change is the only constant
  • An effective multi-tasker comfortable working on multiple products and projects
