Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Senior Low Latency Network Engineer/Architect for Electronic Trading for a Contract assignment with one of our premier Financial Services clients in New York, NY. Responsibilities :
- As a Senior Low Latency Network Engineer and Architect, the candidate with join a team of Low Latency staff located around the world, bringing their skills and experience to Design and Build of Low Latency Infrastructure solutions for Equities, Fixed Income and Wealth Management customers within the company.
- This role also focuses on devising and implementing automation and operational enhancements of the Low Latency, HFT and other bespoke platforms as well as a number of other strategic architecture initiatives globally.
- Candidate will work closely with Low Latency application teams and production support to understand their needs and engineer solutions for them.
- These will include High Performance Cooling Systems, FPGA, GPU, Microwaves.
- This candidate is expected to work directly with application development teams in IBIT and front office businesses globally to provide solutions to their complex infrastructure requirements and support their existing infrastructure and applications.
- The role will require service management of the following services in a global capacity.
- Ultra and Low Latency Hosting Service
- Low Latency Market Data and Order Execution Service
- Client Onboarding & Connectivity Service
- Application Latency Monitoring and Reporting Service
- Performance & Monitoring Engineering
- Expect 7+ years of managing networking in trading environment, preferably in Low Latency
- Excellent knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
- Excellent knowledge of Layer 1, 2, Layer 3, Layer 4 protocols (STP, PC/vPC/MLAG, CDP/LLDP, VLAN/VxLAN, VRRP/HSRP, TCP/UDP, ACL, TACACS+, SNMP, NTP/PTP, VRF)
- Solid knowledge of multicast & message bus technologies
- Strong knowledge of network monitoring PCAP decoding tools landscape (Corvil, Inmon, SFlow, timestamping)
- Knowledge of Algorithmic/DMA/HFT and trading platforms and how the trade lifecycle operates a must
- Solid understanding of Market Venue / Exchange protocols (binary, FIX, Itch, Outch, Pillar, etc.) and trading systems across multiple asset classes
- Ability to track and report on network, systems and application level latency, using granular timestamping tools, telemetry data, network transaction insight from packet decoders, etc.
- Strong network automation scripting skills (Python, Perl, UNIX shell)
- Strong, working knowledge of UNIX operating systems (RHEL, SUSE), with ability to download and build a wide variety of open source technologies and tools
- Experienced Network topology Architect, in depth knowledge of core routed & routing protocols
- Ability to manage all phases of Network equipment lifecycle, from research and design phases through lab testing, engineering a standard-build, deployment automation, support, maintenance and administration, and ultimately to migrate and decommission
- Expert level experience and skill with Arista and Cisco network switching, routing hardware and software
- Expert level experience with scripted automation and orchestration technologies to control deployment, build, configuration changes, etc. (one or more: Puppet, Ansible, Python)
- Expert level experience and knowledge of common applications and services used for electronic trading, order management & trade execution (market gateways, smart order routers, algo engines, order management, risk engines, etc.)
- Expert level ability to architect, engineer and optimize ultralow solutions for market data delivery and order execution
- Ensuring comprehensive operational controls are followed and reporting is maintained
- Providing Operations teams with actionable information and insights to guide their ability to troubleshoot issues and/or optimize network performance
- End-to-end process for managing Co-Lo vendor services, project justification and management, financial controls, transparency and accountability with Efficiency management teams
- Experienced engaging with and managing a wide variety of Network technology vendors and connectivity service providers, with understanding of MSA, SLA restrictions
- Experience working with tools like Remedy and/or Service Now to manage Incidents and Change activities
- Must be knowledgeable of the front office business culture and climate in equities and fixed income business and demonstrate high-level client service management skills
- Will be accountable for manage direct clients engagement, with both internal and external (cross-connect) clients. Ability to plan and execute client onboarding (i.e., Receive connection requests from Business units, select and present various solutions to the client, implement network changes to provide client connectivity, etc.)
- Clients and Low Latency technology assets are primarily operated out of global colocations and data center facilities with close proximity to major exchanges and ECN, and Electronic Trading Network (ETN) environments
- Ability to represent service portfolio, financial pricing for services to clients
