SQL DBA
NYC or Greenwich CT Onsite $165k base + bonus Our client provides integrated front to back-office services to investment managers and financial institutions and is authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the United Kingdom. Our client's offering covers the full investment life cycle, including portfolio management technology, risk services, operations, treasury and regulatory reporting. The database administration team consists of two members of staff who are responsible for all aspects of the enterprise SQL Server and SAP ASE database infrastructure. The estate consists of around 100 SQL Server instances and around 20 SAP ASE instances running on Oracle Linux, much of which is currently on premise but transition to cloud services such as Amazon Web Services is significantly increasing, as is the use of DevOps tools. The ideal candidate will be an experienced SQL Server DBA, with a keenness for automation and DevOps background, looking to enhance their DevOps skillset and keep up to date with latest technology changes. In addition to playing a key role in supporting our database estate they will have the opportunity to help shape DevOps strategy. The main responsibilities of the DBA role are:- Design, build, management, maintenance and optimization of global SQL and ASE DB environments.
- Strategy for database design, build and optimization globally, including hardware and storage design
- Capacity planning, security policies, backup and monitoring
- New database installations, upgrades and migrations
- Working closely with developers, advising on SQL code optimizations and database design
- Create and foster cross department relationships, to enhance collaboration and service delivery.
- Provide reporting to local and global stakeholders as required
- Operate as key part of Global Infrastructure management team, supporting all business and clients.
- Contribute to global IT infrastructure strategic direction and vision for people, technology and operational process.
- Support US Senior Management in the growth of the US business.
- Other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by management.
- Experience managing large SQL server environments
- Automation experience with C#, PowerShell, Python or shell scripts
- Expert in T-SQL and database design
- Troubleshooting and resolving database performance issues
- Experience with high availability technologies
- SAP ASE 15 knowledge experience
- Experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with virtualization and containerization (Docker)
- CI/CD Tools
- Configuration Management tools such as Puppet, Ansible or Chef
- Experience with NOSQL databases
