- Proficiency in the main programming and markup languages of web design, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL
- Understanding how WordPress works in and out.
- Knowledge of the new WordPress Gutenberg editor and ability to customize it according to editorial needs.
- Understanding of SEO best practices and how web crawlers, indexing, meta tags, and sitemaps work. And ability to incorporate SEO friendly markup in your code.
- Thorough knowledge of mobile-first responsive design and developing applications in this manner from early stage.
- Understanding of business requirements and the ability to effectively communicate your ideas to the stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn new skills and technologies to adapt to the current trends in modern web design.
- Great teamwork skills to be able communicate daily and work together closely with other developers.
- Willingness to take constructive criticism effectively and improve through feedback.
- Thorough understanding of WordPress themes and plugins architecture and knowledge of how WordPress 'actions' and 'filters' works.
- HTML5/CSS3/JavaScript
- Working knowledge of jQuery
- Experience with modern Javascript (ES5/6) and exposure to the React framework
- Experience with writing Sass.
- Experience working with code versioning tools such as GIT and cloud-based hosting services such as Bitbucket and GitHub.
- PHP 7+/MySQL.
- Knowledge of how to make HTTP requests to send/receive data (AJAX, cURL, .fetch(), and/or others) with RESTful APIs and associated data formats (JSON, XML).
- Experience with the WordPress REST API
- Experience working with JavaScript task runners such as Grunt and Gulp.
- Experience with the command line – Bash (or other shell), WP-CLI
- Experience working with WordPress hosting providers such as WPEngine.
- Basic understanding of search engines such as Elastic Search and Algolia
