The BCS technician should be able to support Video Network Operations Centre (VNOC), Broadcast and Studio operation including; Camera operation, Teleprompter setup and operation), Camera (ENG, Fixed and Robo Cam) set up and operation, Studio audio (A1 and A2 positions), Studio and exterior lighting system, DMX set up and operation, the Management and playout of pre-recorded videos, operation of virtual meeting platforms; Zoom, MS Teams and Cisco Webex and others, Operation of Remote Simultaneous Interpretation platforms such as Interprefy, Interactio and others.

Also the operation of Media Asset Management Systems such as AVID, Dalet and others, Operation of virtual production environment technology, such as VMix and others, Client interaction and training for example On-Boarding, Moderator roles within virtual meeting platforms, Special Event Set up and Operation including Public Address systems supported events, Press Briefing Set up and Operation (PBR).

The Engineering Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Broadcast and Conference Support Section (BCSS) equipment and systems deployed.

The Engineering Technician will provide cross craft support to the Conference and Studio operational team(s), including Undertake minor repairs and modifications to the set and set items, and basic mechanical repairs Undertake simple fault finding and adjustment of equipment, including necessary replacements, installations and modifications Install, maintain, repair, refurbish and test broadcast and non-broadcast electrical equipment, including the inspection, testing and recording of results according to BCSS practices Ability to interpret drawings, plans and elevations Check equipment constructed and installed by contractors, Ability to operate Fork Lift Trucks and Genies interpreting implementing rigging and lighting plots to meet program and operational requirements and providing support to the craft teams with simple craft tasks Wide ranging knowledge of the use, fault-finding and maintenance of the broadcast and non-broadcast electrical equipment Load, unload and move studio sets, interpret plans and elevations, set, strike and fly scenic items and audience rostra to meet program requirements Undertake electrical testing, cable installation work and general electrical support to assist in the delivery of special projects Support in the security, handling and movement of scenery, equipment, materials and large and small props including dressing, ensuring reasonable measures are taken to prevent damage and theft and reporting loss or damage as promptly as possible Communicate tactfully with program contributors or members of the general public, liaising with operational and/or production staff and resource management as necessary in the event of significant problems Craft Assist - Examples for craft assistance include: assist the Floor Manager with guests, safety provisions for use of the Jib and camera operations, assisting sound staff with mic placements, assisting lighting teams with desk controls, assisting Directors with shot set ups etc.

The Engineering Technician must have experience and/or related certification for equipment within the: broadcast production, postproduction area, Conference Microphone and simultaneous interpretation equipment, network and server, CCTV, CATV/IPTV distribution, VHF and UHF radio communication, Public Address, Infrared Repeater, Scheduling, Media Asset Management and Content Management systems.

He/she must be able to develop, adjust and maintain accurate technical drawings and documentation as required.

The position requires close interaction and coordination with client personnel, and he/she must be able to work successfully both supervised and unsupervised.

Qualifications, Minimum of High School diploma and successful graduation from a minimum of two years of college or other related tertiary academic or technical qualification.

Five years of relevant experience working as a broadcast/production maintenance engineer. Must be able to read and understand electronic schematics, demonstrate knowledge of basic signal workflow, and have experience with the use of bench maintenance equipment, including soldering iron, crimping tools, coax/audio/CAT5/fiber, and all other industry-standard video and audio equipment. Experience diagnosing and repairing all broadcast related equipment. Experience working with tapeless broadcast systems and end to end file and other modern broadcast networked systems
