Overview on the Google News InitiativeThe Google News Initiative is Google's effort to work with the news industry to help journalism thrive in the digital ageWe organize and fund programs, products, and partnerships that support the success of the news industryThe Google News Initiative was founded in 2018. To date, the GNI has supported 6,250+ news partners in 118 countries through $189 million in global funding.Top 5 Most Important Skills:Project Management ExperienceOrganizational SkillsLegal and Budget ExperienceJournalism Experience or Strong Interest in JournalismSpreadsheet SkillsResponsibilities:Support a new program by the Google News InitiativeGoogle will provide funding to news organizations that have completed our other programs (eg. GNI Digital Growth Program, GNI Innovation Challenges, GNI News Consumer Insights). These news organizations will apply for Google funding to implement a project based on what they learned in these other programs.The goal is to support news organization in becoming more financially self-sufficient by implementing new projects designed to increase revenue and grow their audiencesThe role will coordinate the internal process at Google to manage this program, including tracking applications, coordination selections, liaising with Legal on contracting, tracking the spending of funds, and helping manage the progress of news organizations that receive the fundingMinimum Qualifications:4+ years of experience leading complex projects with many different teams and stakeholders - Bachelors Degree requiredStrong organizational skills, comfort managing complex processes, and careful attention to detail - Proficiency and absolute comfort in building and managing spreadsheets, such as Google Sheets - Strong interest in the news industryEducation:Bachelors Degree requiredYears Experience:4+ years of experience leading complex projects with many different teams and stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications:Bonus points if candidate has experience working in the media industryContact: This job and many more are available through The Judge Group.
