Market Data Engineer L1 Team LeadThe RoleWe are looking for a Level 1 Market Data Engineer (Team Lead) who can handle the challenges and fast pace associated with global financial markets. The ideal candidate will be an excellent, creative problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills. They will have experience in operating/supporting Market Data infrastructure and related software applications to ensure the integrity, provision, transformation and distribution of financial market data ideally to 24x6 customer base.We are looking for an individual who has been leading or is a senior member of an engineering team managing and operating a financial market data ecosystem, and has gained at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in the following areas/skillsets:

  • Market Data infrastructures managing, monitoring and troubleshooting of the delivery of Real-Time Market Data to customers and vendors such as (but not limited to) Refinitiv TREP and Bloomberg BPIPE;
  • Experience managing and maintaining user permissions in Thomson Reuters DACS and Bloomberg EMRS.
  • Real-Time and Snapshot Market Data Publishing and Contributions technologies such as (but not limited to) Refinitiv CONTEX, Refinitiv RCC and Bloomberg MPF service.
  • Hands-on, advanced management of distribution technologies leveraging various file transfer services i.e. SFTP, HTTPS, AWS.
  • Utilising programming languages such as PowerShell and Python and the management of a market data tick capture service (like but not limited to) Onetick, Velocity, KxDb etc.
  • Real-time data capture and data quality assurance, utilising tick capture technologies, data warehousing and data monitoring/analytics skills/toolsets, such as (but not limited to) ITRS Genios, AWS, Google.
  • The candidate must have excellent organizational skills, be able to work autonomously as well as part of a team and be an “out of the box” conceptual thinker/problem solver, demonstrating an ability to create and share complex solutions to technical and non-technical audiences to tight deadlines. We also require the candidate to have strong Excel skills (including formulas and pivot tables).
  • Teamwork skills to partner with a global peer group of market data support engineers as well as related technology, sourcing, finance and other professionals.
Other skills/experience considered an advantage
  • Good understanding/knowledge of FIX, UPA/ETA protocols.
  • Basic Linux administration skills
  • Understanding of Market Data compliance
  • Confidence in your ability to gain an understanding of bespoke Market Data applications.
  • Ability to create clear and concise documentation.
Key DutiesNormal duties will initially involve the operation and management of one/more of the essential areas, with on-the-job training to enable you to become involved in other areas of service.
  • Creating and maintaining of real-time snapshot data sets, referential data and subscriptions.
  • Management of incidents/customer service requests that have been escalated to the engineering team due to their complexity.
  • Ensuring that information accurately captures the lifecycle of incidents/requests
  • Co-ordinating with teams within the IT division to ensure that service outages are correctly communicated to the business or affected users.
  • Contributing to the overall success of the knowledge process via identification of opportunities for new knowledge, and proposal of improvements to existing knowledge.
  • Testing new releases and contributing to virtual teams in project work as required.
  • Planning and prioritization of work to ensure that deadlines and targets are met.
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge and skills and keep up-to-date with new processes, procedures and developments.
  • Participation in change management and testing on weekends/evenings when required.
Hours
  • 9 hour shift pattern including (1 hour lunch): Monday to Friday: 0700 - 1600, 1000 - 1900 EST
  • Daily early morning/evening support handover with global teams.
  • Due to the nature of the role candidates will be required to work extended hours at short notice to complete the work when required.
