Overview:The Assistant Visiting Professor of Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmacology (or related discipline) provides academic instruction to pharmacy students in the PharmD program, with primary focus on the online pharmacy pathway. Faculty will also be expected to contribute to on campus instruction. Additional responsibilities include, but not limited to, participation in assigned school or college committees, service as a faculty advisor to pharmacy students and oversight of assigned co-curricular student activities, and participation in scholarship. Employment will be on a 3-year (12-month) Visiting Faculty contract, renewable based on performance.Job Responsibilities:Core responsibilities of this position include:
Collaboratively develop and enhance pharmaceutical sciences education in the doctor of pharmacy program
Deliver online course material and/or coordinate team-instructed courses
Provide didactic instruction to campus pathway within assigned courses in accordance with course syllabi
Contribute to student orientation and immersion component of online pathway instruction
Engage in other innovative teaching methods with an emphasis on asynchronous content delivery, demonstrations, and student engagement activities
Develop an elective course
Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues in co-instructor courses and in scholarly endeavors
Participate in the scholarship of discovery, application, integration, or teaching, in areas appropriate to the faculty member’s areas of interest, which advances the mission of the school
Oversee assigned co-curricular activities
Contribute to service in the department, school, college, and the discipline
Mentor students in their academic and professional developmentEducation / Experience:Qualified applicants will hold a PhD. in Medicinal Chemistry/Pharmacology, or in a related discipline. Previous academic experience is highly desirable especially in professional pharmacy program. Preference will be given for candidates with online learning and instruction experience.
