Medrad Injector- Stellant Computers with general office products, database management software, Patient Tracking systems and post processing software. Patient Insta-Dose: osure, POCT instrumentation for pregnancy and creatinineTYPICAL DUTIES:

Identifies patient service requirements

Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed.

Prepares patient for radiological/CT procedures by positioning patient; adjusting immobilization devices; moves equipment into specified position; adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.

Performs procedures by following and verifying referring provider’s orders. Applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures.Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.

Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Maintains production and quality of CT images by following established standards, orders, protocols and procedures

Practices radiation protection techniques (ALARA), using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors and automatic exposure controls.

Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements.

Troubleshoots and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.

Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors. Adheres to safety policies.

At an advanced level, may train new employees or lead day to day work activities.¿

CAREER LADDER -Three bands which are differentiated by level of independence, supervision required, ability to precept new employees in the use of all equipment, and the ability to lead and meet established departmental goals.Band One: Non- certified CT technologist - Technologists new to the CT Department who require training as well as regular direct supervision or guidance from a more senior technologist. This generally involves orientation to the Departments infrastructure, policies, protocols, workflows, procedures and routines. Is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV’s, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paper and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions.Band Two: Certified CT Technologist – With minimal supervision is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV’s, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions. Additional duties may include working on special projects, such as new equipment evaluations and assisting in the design of areas where clinical equipment will be installed, or assignment to departmental committees.Band Two requires a minimum of 18 months of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment with at least 6 months dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department, certification in Computed Tomography, and capable of performing all CT related duties.Band Three: Certified CT Technologist - In addition to the responsibilities of Band Two, serves as a preceptor in the on-boarding of newly hired Technologists directly orienting to equipment, imaging routines and procedures, computer programs and software, as well as departmental and hospital policies. A Band Three technologist is considered a subject matter expert in downtime procedures and acts as super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced to the department. Directly assists in the mentoring of existent employees by providing one-on-one assistance in conjunction with the Supervisor. Independently is responsible for performing I-stats, pregnancy tests, starting IV’s, scanning patients in a safe and efficient manner, Injecting IV contrast, preparing oral contrast, completing all associated paperwork and computer work, and discharging the patient from the CT department with appropriate post CT instructions.Select Band Three Technologists may be designated as Leads to support operations on various shifts. Leads may either assist their shift supervisor, or in the absence of a supervisor, determine workflow and staff schedule/assignments. Leads may also provide performance evaluation input to the section supervisor as well as input to CT Management to develop departmental goals and objectives.Band Three requires a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible professional work experience as a specialist in Computed Tomography in a clinical or hospital environment with 1 year dedicated to the URMC Imaging Sciences Department preferred. Technologist must be certified in Computed Tomography, and must satisfy the requirements and be capable of performing all duties of a Band Two Certified CT Technologist. Band Three Technologists should also be comfortable operating many of the various platforms that exist within the UR CT environment.QUALIFICATIONS:Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology.
