What you'll be doing Cell sites are pretty important to support our most reliable and fastest network. That's where you come in. You'll work with cellular engineering and operations to ensure that the equipment required for cell site projects is available when it's needed and complete. When a project needs to be completed, you will determine equipment needs and order and integrate a wide range of equipment like antennas, power systems, and fiber optic cable. You'll work closely with other Network teams such as RF Design, Operations, Real Estate, Construction, Facilities and System Performance to implement new technologies and services and meet project milestones. Responsible for Engineering and Design of all cell equipment in the Upstate New York markets.

  • Engineering, provisioning and implementation of Samsung or Nokia cellular equipment, power plant systems and various antenna systems.
  • Track order status in various databases and come prepared to meetings to give updates/ready dates.
  • Forecast future cell needs including, but not limited to, base stations, routers, circuit packs, floor space & power.
  • Develop and issue planning report for cell sites to be utilized by Region & HQ.
  • Determining the equipment needs for cell sites based on engineering plans and project outlines.
  • Coordinating the ordering and integration process to provide complete equipment sets for projects.
  • Managing supplier relationships to meet targeted network milestones and turn-up dates.
  • Attending project update meetings to present status updates.
  • Following appropriate methods and procedures for equipment tracking and inventory control.
  • Work closely with Area Planning team and Manager to prepare and review annual budget.
  • Track all capital requirements related to the cell sites.
  • Monitor all equipment expenditures.
  • Prepare requests for purchase orders and ensure vendor invoicing.
  • Ensure optimum cell equipment engineering.
  • Coordinate installations with various VZW departments, contractors and installation vendors.
  • Oversee equipment installation and acceptance.
  • Create standards documents and ensure vendor compliance.
  • Design, procure and manage construction of new cell sites.
  • Aid in design, procure equipment and manage cell expansions.

You're interested in new technologies and services in the area of cell site engineering and keep up with changing technology. Working independently is as comfortable for you as being part of a team.

You'll need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Three or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
  • Four or more years of experience in the cellular or telecommunications industry.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Wireless experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in Project Management, PMP certification.
  • Experience in cellular network architecture.
  • Construction management skills including implementation, and project management.
  • Operating systems and applications including Windows and MS Office.
  • Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of DC power systems used in the telecommunications environment.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as necessary.
