New York Life is looking for a hands-on Lead SDET professional to join out Service Technology, Quality Engineering team. The Lead SDET provides highly specialized and advanced technical expertise and will be a leader within the QE team. The Lead SDET must be a thought leader for Quality Engineering, looking for areas of efficiencies and improvement at all turns. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of QE practices, Automation frameworks, innovative ideas to enhance current testing processes. You will also be responsible for leading E2E testing by managing all testing activities that span across different LoBs, technology stacks and applications. You will be a strong advocate for Automation, in addition to hands-on automation development while w orking with QE Management to optimize all of testing, enhance efficiency in testing and improve software quality for the overall organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Looks to provide feedback, guidance, and help offer solutions to improve testing in the overall Enterprise.
  • Lead E2E testing by managing all testing activities that span across different LoBs, technology stacks and applications .
  • Create and manage the master test execution schedule .
  • Create a comprehensive E2E testing strategy and ensuring that assigned testing teams work together effectively and that the testing function is properly integrated across technological areas.
  • Estimate, plan prioritize and coordinate testing activities .
  • Design, Develop and execute automation .
  • Tracks key testing metrics and ensures regular and consistent communication of progress towards overall testing goals to PM and all stakeholders (BRM, BA, Product Owners, development and Program Managers) .
  • Lead multiple projects concurrently, including those most visible and important to the overall organization.
  • Provides advanced technical expertise and mentoring to the quality engineering team and the broader organization.
  • Analyzes new and emerging trends in quality engineering, systems architecture, evaluates alternatives, and completes feasibility studies.
  • Provides advice to senior management on quality assurance advancements and makes strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to drive technical and tactical innovation in the functional testing area, with proof of innovation in prior roles, promoting functional depth of testing, improving testing efficiency, and expanding the scope of testing to be more impactful.

Education / Training
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred but not required

Previous Experience
  • Experience as a Lead SDET supporting Life Insurance platforms is a requirement.
  • Experience as Lead SDET in financial services organizations is a plus.
  • 10+ years of relevant testing experience required, including Management and Leadership experience.
  • Experience leading E2E testing for large programs that span across multiple systems.
  • Proven experience in developing automation using self-service automation frameworks.
  • Strong experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium/WebDriver, BDD/TDD frameworks.
  • Experience in testing front-end and backend APIs of Web and Batch applications in both distributed and Mainframe Systems.
  • Experience in testing RESTful API and SOAP web services.
  • Experience in SCRUM, KANBAN, LEAN, SAFE and XP methodologies on large complex Agile projects.
  • Experience in Agile tools like Rally (Agile Central) and JIRA.
  • Experience testing in distributed, Mainframe and Cloud environments.
  • High emotional intelligence (EQ), with the ability to lead diverse teams.
  • Experience working with and managing on and offshore resources both from a staff augmentation and managed services arrangement.

Required Skills / Knowledge
  • Experience leveraging Service Virtualization to enhance and expedite API automation test capabilities.
  • Knowledge of Life Insurance and Annuities products and supporting systems required.
  • Familiar with new innovative trends or tools in the QE industry, with an ability to drive innovation across teams.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and mentoring skills combined with flexibility, working in a dynamic, fast moving, and fast-growing product development environment.
