Driving Observability in the Cloud
The Operational Intelligence Team at Vanguard has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Cloud Observability Engineer help design and enable the strategy for driving observability for cloud applications and infrastructure. As a Cloud Observability Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to help teams leverage Cloud monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana Enterprise, OpenTelemtry and more. In this role, you will:- Provide senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrate third party products.
- Translate technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produces reports. Employ software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.
- Elevate code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provide follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.
- Understand software development methodology. Understand development architecture standards. Train and mentor staff.
- Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the life cycle to identify issues. Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients. Perform systems analysis activities.
- Thoroughly understand client business functions and technology needs.
- Interfaces with cross functional team members and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.
- Thoroughly understand and comply with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures and verify that deliverables meet requirements.
- Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
- Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience
- 5 years developer or systems analyst experience
- Experience with instrumenting distributed applications for operational observability utilizing tools such as CloudWatch, X-Ray, DynaTrace, New Relic, ELK stack, Splunk, or others.
- Experience coaching others on improving technical systems and practices
- An understanding of Unix/Linux systems and Cloud technologies (AWS preferred)
- A driven approach towards solving deep technical and process problems
