You will be a key member of Vanguard's Engineering team within the Enterprise MarTech Platforms organization, responsible for driving continuous improvement and automation to increase reliability, availability, performance at scale, and overall system health of Vanguard's digital web properties. You are passionate about distributed systems and working with highly scalable services and energized by learning current cloud technologies. In this role, you will be focused on making better software and continuously improving the development, integration, and deployment processes across our Enterprise MarTech platforms.

In this high visibility role you will:
  • Identify and implement performance opportunities of all components of a modern web application stack
  • Identify and support implementation of web & network security best practices and remediation of security vulnerabilities
  • Influence Web, Digital Asset Management & Website and MarTech platform design for scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Are excited about making better software and continuously improving the development, integration, and deployment processes
  • Work within a highly skilled team of engineers to deliver revolutionary improvements to the cloud and scale
  • Continually improving monitoring, alerting, and automation of MarTech ecosystem to increase reliability, availability, performance, and overall system health
  • Champion the system design with performance in mind
  • Modernizing the environments tools and technologies to support the IT strategic goals of continuous delivery and cloud migration.
  • Thoroughly understands and complies with IT policies and procedures, especially those for quality and productivity standards that enable the team to meet established client service levels
  • Works with DevSecOps to understand and comply with Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies deliverables meet Information Security requirements.

What it takes:
  • Extensive experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) such as Akamai or CloudFront.
  • Experience with multi-layer caching strategy to optimize site performance and origin offloads
  • Experience with web performance testing tools, including synthetic user monitoring and real user monitoring
  • Experience with web networking design and implementation, including ingress/egress flow, cloud and on prem network and security practices including (WAF, API Gateway, VPC, Security Zones, etc.)
  • AWS cloud experience including (VPC, Multi-Region, Multi-AZ, CloudFront, API & Application Gateway, etc.)
  • Knowledge of web and application servers (Nginx, Apache, JBoss, NodeJS, etc.)
  • Understanding of site reliability engineering (SRE) concepts and monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace)
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) development methodologies, Lean, Extreme Programming (XP)
  • Web Development technologies including: Angular JS, REST, Linux, AWS
  • Familiarity with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java, C/C, C#, Python, JavaScript, PowerShell
  • Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Confluence), Git, Maven, Jenkins, Selenium, Nexus, Artifactory
  • Experience leveraging cloud architecture, monitoring concepts, applying site reliability principles, and/or demonstrating sensitivity to operational concerns
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent combination of training and experience

Additional qualifications:
  • Experience in the financial services industry
  • Java Development experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to debug, fix, and optimize code
  • Full-stack troubleshooting skills across network, application, hardware, management fabric, and distributed services layers
  • Certifications in Akamai, Web Performance Monitoring, Cloud Computing, Site Reliability Engineering
