Title: Junior Data Analyst

Location: Charlotte, NC or Kansas City, MO (Hybrid)

Duration:

Contract until end of the year. (Opportunity for extension or conversion to FTE)

Job Summary This position is primarily responsible for supporting processes, compiling reports, and performing analyses critical to meeting weekly, monthly, and quarterly claims deliverables. This position also assists in performing activities to facilitate the financial close.

Key duties and responsibilities
  • Review, enhance, and sign settlements ensuring client payments and refunds are processed in a timely manner
  • Produce and provide claim reports to clients
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly paid claim, retro and WIP reports
  • Establish requirements for system enhancements and log tickets for tracking, testing, and implementation
  • Complete monthly systems reconciliations to ensure ledger accuracy
  • Analyze client trending analyses to understand financial results and identify potential future impacts
  • Support retro claims process by performing weekly and quarterly retro claim review of paid claims
  • Process payments for retro claims through systems and respond to 3rd party inquiries as needed to secure payments
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Ensure all ICS controls are properly documented
  • Produce ad-hoc reports and claims metrics when requested
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement solutions
  • May perform other duties as required Required experience & competencies Experience:
  • 1+ years of reinsurance administration or claims experience; operational and financial analysis experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, financial concepts, general ledger, reconciliation processes, variances, trends, and irregularities.
  • Analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel, including use of logical functions and Vlookup formulas, pivot tables, creation of custom templates and data validation
  • Must be extremely detail oriented with strong planning and organizational skills
  • Must be able to learn new systems and manipulate data for reporting
  • Must be able to identify problems and develop innovative, effective solutions
  • Must be results oriented and exhibit a strong sense of urgency
  • Ability to adapt to changing business demands
  • Effective oral and written communicator
  • Strong work ethic; commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to multi-task and balance numerous priorities and deadlines while always maintaining professionalism
  • Experience with reporting, data mining & statistical analysis tools like R, Python, SQL preferred
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM, preferred

Digital / Technical Competencies: Collaboration: - Ability to use file sharing and deliverable co-building tools - Ability to use CRM (Customer Relationship Management) tool - Ability to communicate and share digital information - Ability to employ information: identify, recognize, record and store digital information to facilitate retrieval and use - Ability to engage with digital technology for both internal and external stakeholder benefit, using tools like Python, R, SQL, Prophet, Power App (Microsoft). - Ability to emphasis short production cycles that allow for ideas to be implemented and tested quickly to gather feedback and data informed decisions can be made.
