Used for associates who have more experience and are handling more complex assignments than required of TP601-Sr. Computer Operations Technician I. Monitors and controls one or more midrange or mainframe computers by operating the central console or on-line terminals. Monitors and controls system performance, including peripherals. Determines equipment setup and runs operation by studying program operating instructions. Reports deviation malfunctions if not able to correct within prescribed procedures. Interfaces with internal support groups and vendors to resolve problems. This position requires proficiency sufficient to work at the highest level of computer operations under only general supervision. In some work environments, extensive cross training as a Senior Peripheral Technician is expected. This position requires a significant level of expertise and leadership qualities. Associates frequently perform in a project leadership role and possess the skill and ability to act as a back-up for a supervisor role.
