JOB SUMMARY

The Primary Responsibility of the HL7 Analyst is to provide support and development for HL7 Interface Services.

The HL7 Analyst will provide analysis, design, testing, and implementation of HL7 interfaces connecting to our growing list of hospital client systems. The HL7 Analyst will also provide post go-live support as well as work with our internal project members and the interface contacts at the client/hospitals systems. This position requires a flexible work schedule and rotating on-call support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage, track, and complete HL7 interface configurations
    • Build HL7 interface specific to hospital EMR engine
    • Conduct HL7 interface testing with hospital and internal resources
    • Support HL7 interfaces
    • Resolve complex interface related mapping issues
    • Support HL7 environment
  • Assist with post go-live support immediately following deployment of new interfaces
  • Research HL7 related discrepancies between the hospital EMR and application
  • Work with hospital interface resources to regression test EMR updates
  • Evaluate and test messages received from EMR as a result of hospital workflow
  • Test HL7 formats to ensure correct data is received and sent to application
  • Assist the Team Lead in establishing best practices as they relate to HL7 interface implementation
  • Assist with maintenance of software upgrades, troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Identify opportunities and/or process improvements for existing or new interfaces
  • Document new interfaces as well as update existing interfaces as needed

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

  • Reports to the HL7 Team Manager / Product Director
  • Collaborate with Unit Operations and Client Personnel
  • Collaborate with External Vendors for Applicable Systems
  • Collaborate with Hospital HL7 Resources
  • Collaborate with internal support teams (database, web app, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Education - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent combination of experience and work
  • Eperience - 3 years minimum working as an HL7 analyst OR data transformation role in B2B/EDI environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong written communication, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management and on time delivery of work products
  • Ability to work independently with indirect supervision
  • Ability to lead calls and meetings to ensure maximum productivity during the allotted time
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple concurrent tasks
  • Ability to quickly adapt to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
  • Ability to research solutions to problems associated with the exchange of HL7 messages/information in a hospital business environment
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of healthcare diet, allergy, and HL7 Data Standards preferred
  • Prior experience with HL7 interface engines preferred
  • Detail oriented
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Basic knowledge of computer network infrastructure design and communications
  • SQL experience (MySQL/MSSQL) preferred
  • Corepoint interface engine experience is a plus
