You are ready to find your purpose at work The Role We are transforming technology and creating a digital evolution that will empower Centene to better serve our members. As Application Software Engineer you will:

  • Design, build, test and maintain scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs
  • Participate and contribute in the entire implementation process for new applications and enhancements to existing applications
  • Provide input on the overall solution design
  • Build and test applications
  • Meet with business partners to understand business needs
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement basic performance tuning
  • Responsible for ensuring solution meets business needs
  • Responsible for hardware configuration and code deployment automation
  • Manage daily tasks involved in the development, quality control, deployment, and integration of software development into a single, continuous set of processes.
  • Develop best practices and principles that will make development cycles shorter and assist teams in continuously delivering high-quality software.
  • React quickly to feedback to continuously improve processes.
  • Use configuration management software to automatically deploy updates and fixes into the production environment.
  • Performs routine application maintenance to ensure the production environment runs smoothly. Develops maintenance requirements and procedures.
  • Recommends performance enhancements by performing gap analysis, identifying alternative solutions, and assisting with modifications.
  • Develop verbal and written communication to the teams to instantiate best practices in Devops that supports application development
  • Must be able to quickly identify problems or bottlenecks in everyday processes and procedures. They suggest improvements and implement fixes as needed to ensure processes meet expectations for CICD (continuous integration, continuous development)
Additionally you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • DevOps engineers need to have experience developing software applications and a good knowledge of scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP, Cloud DevOps capabilities utilizing Cloudfront, Teraform, Azure Devops
  • Ability to quickly learn technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Puppet, Nginx, HAProxy, Elasticsearch, MariaDB, GoLang
  • Experience with Health Care applications development and design is preferred
