The Sr. Java Backend Developer will help build out a brand new NextGen enrollment system. As a Sr. Java Backend Developer, you will:- Design, build, test and maintain scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs.
- Act as a subject matter expert for Application Software developers and Engineers.
- Have in-depth understanding of entire development process (design, development, and deployment
- Interact with team members to determine best solutions
- Interact with product owners and end-users to understand business needs.
- Collaborate with front-end developers and other members of the team to improve application usability/performance.
- Write functional requirement and design documents and guides
- Help other back-end and front-end developers with coding and troubleshooting
- Follow high quality software development practices and standards.
- Attend daily stand-up meeting, attend sprint planning and review.
- Contribute to the entire implementation process including driving the definition of improvements based on business need and architectural improvements
- Meet with business partners to understand business needs
- Responsible for overall design of the solution
- Design, build and test applications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of related experience.
- Healthcare experience is strongly preferred, requires demonstrated understanding of business process as it relates to experience in the field.
- Strong working experience with JAVA, JSP, Java Script, PL/SQL, UNIX shell scripting, Spring Boot, etc.
- Experience with Oracle or SQL Server.
- Experience with web services, messaging (Kafka), micro services and stored procedures preferred
- Extensive back-end development experience to build server-side software
- Strong Unit Testing experience
- Experience with micro services architecture and cloud ready applications
- Preferably a full stack developer that has primary experience on the back-end, but that also understand the front-end.
- Excellent communication skills and a degree of technical leadership skills.
